8:10.. Shan describing how a producer would connect a keyboard and sampler or sound module thru a midi connection, to "trigger" the sounds... lol.. back then, midi (musical instrument digital interface) was the greatest invention to musicians.. u had all these different companies.. yamaha, roland, korg, akai.. etc, comin together so all of their equipment could talk to each other, and stay in sync with watever tempo u used.. and here we are now, over 30yrs later, and its still on the back of most modern equipment.. salute to the inventors of that.. im forever grateful.

Brad Brad I can understand what you're saying to a degree. But if J Cole is what ur sayin he is (why the alliance with Jay Z )? Where's the music and the activism about what's going on amongst the BLACK community ? If the brother is as "deep" as many claim he is , why even sign with a major label ? As an independent artist he could say whatever he wants & not have to worry about the label censoring him or controlling his art. The same with Kendrick (that King Kunta garbage & the trash performance on the Grammy,s)...ish like that shows that he's a waste ; not to mention his new alliance to the devil worshipper Rick Rubin. The bottom line to all of what's goin on with RAP is about money 💰 & who and how many people they can influence. Those dudes wearing skirts and other feminine apparel lose credibility with me INSTANTLY. Symbolism & femininity from males is what they project in their videos ( you can't tell me that they have no say so abt what they wear or abt the imagery in their vids). Dude this ish is BIGGER THEN HIP HOP...You're fav two rappers & those above & below them needs to be scrutinized.

His 2nd album was dope, but I was highly disappointed when that 3rd album dropped. I was forcing myself to like it, and by then BDP was putting out fire. Kane, Rakim, G Rap and others, and I forgot about Shan, but I still respect the man. He is a legend.

Back when hip hop was still fresh and everybody wasn't a rapper and you could count ever hot rapper on 2 hands, back when if you saw a nigga in a brand new merc or bmw you jaw would literally drop you knew it was either a big time dealer or a rapper, The game has moved on and so it should the new breed are doing their thing its all good but nothing will eve rcome close to the golden era, its like when the ps1 first came out and we got 3d games, playing tomb raider for the 1st time blew your mind, now we have ps4 which is 1000 times better technically, but it will never recreate that feeling you got from playing the ps1 the first time. The only thing that will come close is some virtual reality type shit.

ABC 123 question why is it that the era today is talked about like garbage when there are ! bunch of unique MCs and rappers out today just like then? problem is most of those guys are either underground and it takes a bit more work than listening to the radio to hear them. only a few are actually on radio like kendrick lamar, j cole, wale, vince staples and whatnot. now the radio is dominated by mumble rap and other garbage sure. but to find the good stuff we are doi n what hip hop did in its infancy when they were in the disco era and to even see hiphop or djs you had to really be vigilant in finding the artists because they were not on the radio like that initially. anyway i blame mainstream and radio for the lack of pushing actual good records out here for people to hear.
@JunglistBass8 жыл бұрын
kevin richardson Part of the problem is the industry is so saturated with artists and competition that its hard for anybody to stand out anymore. The other thing is that most people these days only care about trap music and turning up in the club and on Instagram People care less about lyrics, intelligence and having something revolutionary to say and just care about posting photo's of gucci on IG. Kendrick and the other artists you mentioned go to show that there is still artists of greatness around that's for sure, its the 95% of other trash that lets it down,
