There’s no difference in the literal definition of the word. However, what people lack is the further expansion of the definition to “being able to afford something” and not have what you bought hinder your finances in the short and long term. That’s the understanding people lack.

The people who were REAL BROKE AND POOR POOR, they won’t be in that position ever again. The jiggas and master P’s and Boosies of the world were like for real for real from the dirt and just the stuff they went through causes them to have that “never again” mentality. That’s why you don’t see them with the 8 chains on and the diamond encrusted watches and throwing money all around at magic city and all that nonsense. They know “that 50 racks is some property somewhere that can increase in value someday” or “I can buy that painting and then after it sits for 5 or 10 years I will re-appraise it and it’ll be worth 75 or 100 grand”. They don’t play with money like most young rappers who see that as a means to play. The smart ones see money as a tool and it’s only used to fix and help your situation. Slim thug and Chamillionaire are great examples of guys that put that money they got into great investments and they no longer see income as something else that they have to stress about. That’s how you use money, not the Floyd Mayweather way spending a million on lottery tickets when you already have hundreds of millions of dollars in the bank.

Just cause you buy something that’s out ya budget don’t mean you “doing it for others”. Just cause you buy jewelry and shoes to look nice in others eyes don’t mean you literally doing it for them. You simply just like having those nice things. In my case, I spent a lot on clothes and shoes and if I were to go broke or down and couldn’t buy more, I’d still have unpopped tags and able to look presentable to get that new job or I have that up to date reliable veh to last me a long time so I can hustle the $$ back

This the importance of slow money vs. fast money. When you had to grind for each dollar and watch it trickle in over years, every time you're about to spend a dime you remember the work you had to put in to get that dime and you think real hard about if you really need what you're about to buy. When you go from broke to millionaire overnight, all you can think about is getting everything you wanted that you were never able to get and you buy it all without a second thought until you're back at square one.

I’ve always gotten the sense that Boosie is fairly good with handling money. He funds a lot of his own projects from movies to music, he’s always talking about buying up land and he’s constantly on the road. Of course, people will say but look at all the money he spends on jewellery, cars, etc, but that could be well within his expenses. You don’t hear too many rappers say that can’t afford to blow through a million like that. Most people can’t wait to tell you how they tricked off a million in a given weekend. If you don’t know much about money, start here and take note. Saving and investing are the most important things. Don’t create a lifestyle that you can’t maintain.
