@@o4tw382 On November 23, 1998, Lewis and fellow Fruit Town Piru member Stephen Cheatham were shot in the legs. On December 20, 1998, "Veterano" Tortilla Flats member Phillip Avolli was shot and killed. A "veterano" refers to a person who has been a gang member for a long period of time and often directs younger gang members to carry out gang- related crimes. Fruit Town Piru members Cheatham and Derrick Ballard, and Fruit Town Piru associate Frank Kiper, were standing nearby when Avolli was killed. On December 31, 1998, persons suspected of being Tortilla Flats members fired upon three Fruit Town Piru members. On the date of Avolli's funeral, a Tortilla Flats member who had just attended the funeral shot at four or five Fruit Town Piru gang members on the street. On May 25, 1999, Lavar Higgins, who associated with the Tree Top Pirus, was shot and killed on the street. Tortilla Flats member Jorge Diaz was tried and convicted of the crime. On June 6, 1999, Fruit Town Piru member Robert Hall was chased in his car and fired upon, causing his car to crash. On June 17, 1999, Fruit Town Piru member Shawn Horn was shot and killed. Fresh Tortilla Flats graffiti at the shooting site was superimposed over Fruit Town Piru graffiti, a gesture of disrespect so serious that it could result in the shooting of the graffitist. On June 21, 1999, an apartment complex known to be frequented by Fruit Town Piru and Tree Top Piru gang members was fired upon. On July 6, 1999, another residence known as a Fruit Town Piru "hangout" was fired upon by "two car loads" of persons. Fruit Town Piru graffiti at the location was crossed out by the slogans "T- Flats" and "Fruit Town Killers." On July 10, 1999, Tortilla Flats gang members walked up to Fruit Town Piru member Marlin Thomas and shot him several times. On July 11, 1999, 12- year- old Jose Perez, who was having lunch with his family at a Compton restaurant, was shot and killed when Fruit Town Piru member Robert Hall fired into a crowd of people. Hall was convicted of the crime. On July 16, 1999, a car was "shot up" at an apartment complex frequented by Fruit Town Piru members, and a bullet grazed a male African American's face. On July 19th, 1999, Fruit Town member Lorenzo Brooks was shot at by Tortilla Flats members, damaging his car. One thing I love about Texas is the fact that in the hood, all races more or less get along and I'm thankful that a race war like this would *never* happen down here because the opinions of prisoners holds ZERO weight on the street. As a black dude who grew up in a Mexican gang in Dallas, I couldn't imagine taking orders from some old musty ass washed up gangbanger who shoves drugs up his butt and hasn't felt the touch of a woman in years who spends most of his time in a 6x8 cage. The fact that all races are fine with one another here also keeps Texan prisons less racial. You're not gonna have a racist Mexican gang like La Eme running Texas prisons because all the Mexicans here grew up cool with blacks, so the idea of a race war is so far out of the average Mexicans' head that even suggesting it would be insane.
@perosoygoyito Жыл бұрын
You've got it twisted. Black gangs in Cali were notorious for robbing dealers. You begin to rob affiliated dealers and you've got a war for control of the drug trade in these neighborhoods. The race angle is little more than a sensationalistic fallback that cops and the white-guilt-ridden media pushes for ratings and which Blacks enable with their chronic bullying of the most vulnerable (e.g., immigrants, street vendors, etc.). Otherwise, NO color is immune from being "discouraged" from interfering with an affiliated varrio's hustle and flow.

Yeah sadly blacks aren’t as structured as the Mexicans. The Double M controls most if not all Mexican gangs in southern Cali. All Mexicans have to align or else they get dealt with by the Mexican M. Blacks in southern Cali don’t have to align or take orders which is more messy for them pretty much.
