NBA players are constantly reminded about this, all year long. Even during the off-season. Joe Smith was drafted in 1995. The NBPA has been providing financial literacy symposiums during the week-long (RTP) Rookie Training Program, ever since 1985. They literally teach the players courses called "How To Avoid Going Broke". There is NO good excuse for not using what is available.. FOR FREE!! Any NBA player can attend. Not just Rookies.
