djvlad For the next interview you upload with Godfrey, you really need to ask him about what his overall thoughts are on Royce Da 5'9's freestyle that he did on Funk Flex. Also, you really need to ask him about what his overall thoughts are on Royce as an MC. That would be really amazing to see and I know a lot of people would love to see that as well.

djvlad Also you really need to ask him about what his thoughts are on on the Brother Lynch Hung and Mozzy beef. That would be really interesting to hear what he has to say about that overall, especially from his perspective.

@1:05 echoes ... "If you can't beat 'em, Join 'em." or... "If you can't be with them, Attack Them!" #psych101 class. No shade to the BlastMaster! But...that same 'thing' is in place today in other lots; 50 Cent even said similar to Oprah in their interview. citing "...if we can't be friends, then we'll be enemies, so I can co-exist." paraphrased.

I started researching her after I saw that clip about her in the Beef DVD and she has many interviews out there where she is talking about going back to school and really helping her community without being loud about it. That day KRS stopped thinking of her as a little girl and respected her as a young woman and MC. Roxanne is the only person I seen bring Mo'Nique back to her childhood in a good way. I can't wait for the Monie Love story. Lauryn Hill, Rah Digga and all the Queens.

It's really nice she is getting her props now. She's been a legend in the eyes of those who listened to her growing up in the 80s. But most ppl never mention names like UTFO, Roxanne Shante when they talk about Hip hop these days. So it's lovely to see my age group get a chance to appreciate the ones who held it down in the 80s --a time when the majority of society thought rap was a passing fad and wasn't real music.

@Rest in peace Big PUN And putting your hands on men and spitting on them and acting like a Dude is the worse thing you can do. You lose your females card once you do that. Females need to keep there hands to themselves and you won't get hit. Act like a man you will get hit. Simple as that. None of this shivelry shit. Females act out of line and think they can disrespect you because they are females. The worse you can do is kill your momma or beat someone up weaker then you, stop reaching when you say the Worse thing you can do, yes if she is defenceless and she is the victim, then that's very bad, but a bitch wilding out and coming for you and attacking you and she is the aggressor, she deserve a good pop in the face. A disrespectful female trying hurt you, and attacks you and you can't even defend yourself that's bullshit. There is a lot of females that are stronger then some guys so they need to know there place and keep there hands to themselves. Don't hit anyone.

Mr. Woods - If you can beat MEN or boys (Idk how old you are) You could and SHOULD Already have a defensive fighting technique. When and IF A female attempts to get physical, you should be able to effectively BLOCK her attack and make a FOOL out of her, WITHOUT ANY offensive attacks whatsoever. I do/Would. The Wax On Wax Off Technique WORKS EVERY TIME! Any offensive attack against a girl or woman is Overkill imo. Unless she has a WEAPON...OR unless If she's Ronda Rousey and wilding Out On You.

See, being from NY and living through the moment. KRS not only destroyed the crew, he destroyed the radio station! There was WBLS, which Juice crew repped. And KISS FM which BDP repped. After the 'Bridge is over' dropped, i knew much heads who went from Mr. Magic on 'bls to Red Alert on Kiss

Roxanne Shantay factor is "knowing you are great at what you do and you don't need validation from anyone else." Validation is nice, but people with this mindset don't need it. This woman/human/god is a resilient being. To go through and survive so much and yet thrive is beyond remarkable. Thank you my elder for sharing your story.

I'm 20 years old and grew up on all this hip-hop. I actually met Roxanne at Bls like 5 years ago. I went to Wbls in Nyc to do a interview with another dj and as I was coming in the building, Roxanne Shante and Marley Marl were coming off the elevator. I had all ready grown up listening to my fathers tapes of Marley Marl and Red Alert and to meet Roxane I was starstruck. I didn't know what to say. Roxanne said something to the effect of "We've been hearing about you. Nice to finally meet you." Shante was such a sweetheart.

The Queen of Hip Hop in my opinion. “Roxanne Shanté stay creepin' You sleepin' but I stay armed, and dangerous. No matter what your name is, bitch I make you famous” That verse was so rad and so true, anyone who tried to diss Roxanne Shanté got their name out there. One of my first car mix tape cassettes that i would play back in 96-97 I think had that Frankie cuttless cypher part 3 track and I would always think “that girl has skills” little did I know she was already old school way back then. Then I herd that verse of that old stuff with biz beat boxing “we came here tonight to get started to cold act ill or get retarded” Oh mate I take my hat off to you legend. I got shivers down my spine hearing that. Down here in Australia we didn’t have a lot of access to it all back then so I used to record it off a radio show and fill shoe boxes with tapes lol. Big respect from down under!

KRS fan for life, but I got mad love and respect for Shante. She always had it always will. "Your name sounds like a broken down radio station!" That was cold. She was 100% legit. She battled for real and took that respect even from the Blast Master. Love when he told that story on the Hip Hop Lives album: "Shante's already the queen". Roxanne Shante is the REAL Real Roxanne.

When I was growing up in Greensboro, North Carolina, back in the day, my father's best friend, who was from Philadelphia, would go home to visit his family from time to time and would bring back these WBLS mixtapes featuring DJ Marley Marl and the first song I remember by her was "Roxanne's Revenge". Thanks to my dad's friend, I used to have the nicest mixtape collections.

The Bridge Is Over is the greatest dis record of all time. It's almost tied with No Vaseline. I don't care what any Tupac stan says. Like my man Books of Das Efx said, "I still get the chills when niggas play The Bridge Is Over." KRS rapping in a dancehall reggae cadence was already ill enough. His voice and enunciation were bold and crystal clear. The disses were delivered with such style and passion. The way he interpolated the lyrics to Billy Joel's It's Still Rock N' Roll To Me was genius: "what's the matter with your MC, Marley Marl, don't you know that he's out of touch?/ what's the matter with your DJ, MC Shan? On the wheels of steel, Marlon sucks/ You better change what comes out your speaker/ You're better off talkin' 'bout your wack Puma sneaker/ Cuz Bronx created hip hop/ Queens will only get dropped/ You're still telling lies to me/ Everybody's talkin' 'bout the Juice Crew, funny, but you're still telling lies to me." The beat was bare bones boom bap with hard drums, crashing cymbals and a simple stacatto melody being played on piano. KRS got inside that track with his voice and delivery and rocked that shit smooth like a mink coat to the floor. Damn, that shit was dope. Smh.

Beyond facts! What some may not mention is the cadence and flow of the Juice Crew also sounded very elementary compared to KRS-One’s visceral assassin flow…it was so opposing to how they flowed. The Queens team’s flow still had innocence in their voices to a degree, but KRS came with the heat of hell, and there really was no way to match that. Your summary has to be arguably one of the best I’ve ever read about that song. I know the Hollis crew did their thing with Russell and the boys, but the annihilation of this one song, one borough to another, just might be eternal.

It's great that people are learning more about Roxanne Shante through these interviews -- but what she is saying is old news to me. As true hip hop fans, people should put in effort to become students of the culture, and learn about the original pioneers. Don't just start with who you grew up listening to. Learn about who influenced the artists you grew up listening to -- and who influenced them -- and who influenced them. Hip Hop has too many front-runners. Don't just be a hip hop 'fan' -- be a historian. This goes for me, too.

Wait, wait, wait, "They're paying not to like you." I think that line went over some cat's heads! It's like a sin and their punishment is paying for disliking something or someone, "They're paying not to like you." You ever notice that whenever someone is hating on you. Your life seems better and brighter in their eyes. While it's the complete opposite for them. Like they're having a good time with their friends. Then as soon as you or your squad walks by their whole demeanor changes. Personally I think it's mad funny. I'm just saying, haha! Anyway, go ahead, Shante! I love your music, positive attitude and representing Hip-Hop to the fullest!! ~ @phurdrick ✊😋
