Man this whole interview Vlad talks over Yella, steers the conversation not by asking questions but by making leading declarations waiting for Yella to fill in the blanks. Then if Yella doesn’t say what he wants to hear he try’s to redirect the narrative with “well actually”. Like when Yella begins voicing his opinion on Dr. Dre being the greatest ever. @@spellbinder7036 just for clarification, Yella clearly said, "Tomeka" said we don't need you. Tomeka Wright is the broad who married Eazy on his death bed, and stole all the money and the business. If I'm not mistaken, she had controlling interest in the movie because NWA and Straight Outta Compton and the music is owned by Ruthless. He didn't say Cube or Dre did him like that. In another video he said Dre bought him a car and helped get him back on his feet. Cube don't owe Yella shit, Cube was a kid at the time and did 1 album with him over 30 years ago where all Yella did was help mix a few records.

Ice Cube jr spent 2 years in film school (acting/writing) and he auditioned. It wasn’t given to him. Part of the reason Suge drove on the movie set was because he was being portrayed w/o pay. They left out a lot of people from the movie. If I’m not mistaken it was supposed to be an Ice Cube bio that turned into NWA. Because he couldn’t tell his story w/o them. Cube said himself that the storyline could’ve gone multiple directions. Tomika wrong to say that to Yella. He definitely should be getting royalties both movie & music.

I don’t know you and I don’t want to make any assumptions, but, you will find, that in this life, “friends”, “so-called friends” and even family, no matter what they may have, will rarely help you. Especially when you are down and out. When it comes to money, most people, not all people, but most people, do not share and they do not care. They may say they do, they may even act like they care, but, when the chips are down and it’s time to “put up or shut up”, most people will Shut Up. I think, I don’t know for sure, but, I think it’s because we’ve been conditioned to believe that it’s Every man/woman, for themselves. So, on this journey called “Life”, if you ever come across a person who puts their money where their mouth is”, remember to Always Respect and Cherish that person, because they are the exception to the rule. They are special, they are not the rule. We human beings are mostly selfish and greedy. People would rather you take their wife, than to take their money. I wish I were wrong, but, I’m a 56 year old man who has had to learn that lesson the hard way. Stay safe and always rely on yourself and you will never be disappointed. Take care.

@@Misterj23946 actually, I’m Really Happy for You. When your “chips were down”, you found out that You were enough and the fact that you were able to “care foe your kid”, that’s Amazing. Too few “men” take on the responsibility of any children they may have helped produce. I understand that’s sometimes women make it difficult to develop a strong bond with your child because they use the kid as a pawn. That sucks. The point here is, when a man takes responsibility for himself, and treats himself with respect, chances are that he will also be willing to treat other relationships with respect. As far as the woman in your family who’s judgement seems less than solid, she will have to learn the hard way. That doesn’t mean disown her, but it does mean don’t let her play those same manipulative games with you. I’ve found it necessary to guard myself from certain types of men & women, who’s outlook on life is basically, “What’s mine is mine and what’s Yours is mine”. I don’t think so, 😂🤣. Take care.

Great interview. Always love Vlad’s interview with DJ Yella. It is sad how he was homeless just a year and a half ago . There is no way a member of one of the most famous groups in hip hop history, should ever be homeless. I know Nwa group members didn’t really have a contract and I am not sure if they are subject to any royalties, but it is sickening that he was in that position. I believe Easy E’s wife is head of his estate therefore subject to all royalties, probably publishing, and masters . I know if this is true and she’s not even covering Lil Easy E’s health insurance, there is no way she is doing anything for Yella or anyone else . Dre is a certified billionaire and Cube is obviously very successful, why would they know one of their brothers is struggling and not help him . It is crazy . I understand they probably didn’t know the full extent to how bad he was struggling but they probably knew . I understand it is not their job to uphold another full grown man , but a brother should never be left out there . They probably didn’t know I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Dre’s own daughter was homeless and I can’t believe he actually was unaware of that , so he probably knew about Yella . It is sad .
