You know as I see these looking back videos as we are here with the great Evander Holyfield and Evander describes how his opponent did in lifting his arm and he demonstrates it, I can see that happening its a classic move of that particular fighter in the midst of battle.. Its good that we can look back and see these fights as they took place back then Evander was a great fighter back in his prime he threw some great combinations and had an awesome uppercut we don't see that in todays boxers and he had the stamina to go along with it.. He's also right about choosing to get into a fight with a world champion for the wrong reason!

It just hurts to know the young people saw Holy WAY past his best . Then again, Be it Ali, Michael Jordan, Shaq, Roy Jones, few great athletes know when to walk away. Hell even James Brown kept performing up to the 90s...till only one leg did the JB dance LOL! C'mon James!! Let it go! Peace!

@kingsman8475 It's so hard to tell who anyone is in a public interview. Roy Jones Jr. had a reputation for years as a mean, dark guy with sports reporters. I met him around 2006, and he was just the nicest guy in the world. He took time to speak with me and all of his fans at the expense of talking to ESPN and he gave me a head nod at a weigh in acknowledging I talked to him the day before.

It's wild that Evander was always the smaller guy, at least by weight, coming in around 6' 1" 210 lbs Bert Cooper was at 240-250 lb guy. Larry Holmes, Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis. They are all 240-250 lbs or more. Evander embodied the underdog, so the fans always got behind him.😇

dont get me wrong Holyfield was good, but he was never this “ small” Monster or great heavyweight that people tryna say… just watch his fights against Larry Holmes and George Foreman, both REAL great heavyweights, even out of shape, old and way past their primes, they had a close match with Evander. Also if he was fighting with Mike Tyson trained by Kevin Rooney , Holyfield wouldnt be shit, and Lennox Lewis And Riddick Bowe both beat his ash.

@bennyadler5882 so why is it on any boxing forum that holmes is rarely talked about while the likes of george foreman gets much more press and always has? Holmes didnt help himself by saying marciano wasnt fit enough to carry his jockstrap. That and beating Ali were reasons for the public to dislike holmes .along with his seeming arrogance,he was never media friendly and his style was never edge of your seat stuff. BUT for the purists he had the best jab in heavyweight history ,along with great footwork and ring IQ. Also a great ability to climb of the canvas and win. He certainly was not the most exciting but for me he was the best.
@bennyadler5882
@bennyadler5882 16 күн бұрын
1. Public never got to know him until comeback where he’d exorcised Ali via his own stellar accomplishments. 2. Peter should have shut up about his brother, prompting terse Holmes comment (jockstrap). 3. Larry was very dignified, quit rather than deal with ner do wells at Dear Lake, all those leeches, press deemed him ungrateful. 4. Charitable, you don’t hear that. Stuart Darden got paralyzed post loss in ‘82.ish. Larry flew to San Diego for exhibition bouts x 3 chargers linemen aside from large donation for Stuart. He’s just not Ali or Frazier, his own man on his own terms.

@@bennyadler5882 i understand all that my friend but holmes never had charima and was not good at selling a fight and that is what the general public is drawn to. Guys who fought at heavyweight coming out with a steady brain is a rare miracle. Crazy too, because Holyfield and Tyson are 2 of the guys who actually came out of it better off than most 😂
@LogicalReasons
@LogicalReasons Жыл бұрын
It's really depressing to hear some of these guys. You can see how they would search warriors taking so many shots the head but the largest fall is got to be bowe. It's truly amazing how well spoken George Foreman is then, despite the fact that he knew that he was probably going to lose all of his memory and named all of his kids. George

@@mattd6200 of course not. It's just frustrating because I watch interviews of Riddick bowe during the 1990s and he's one of the best well-spoken people I've ever listened to and I'd be amazing to be able to hear that after his career was over but unfortunately it's just not possible anymore. Evander is just too likeable but you can see that those headshots have taken a toll Tyson is truly the only one that has the same articulation as he did then. Just sucks
