They’ve ALWAYS stuck to their guns, never quit, never backed down even in the face of ALL the HATE and disrespect they’ve received from the mainstream. (voted worst band from Rolling Stone) They’ve never let any of that steer them away from doing what they love. Love em or hate them just from a “success” mentality...ya gotta have respect for that. ICP wasn't on the label anymore when the teenie boppers showed up. They left in late 96 early 97. Brittney, Backstreet, N*Sync didn't sign with Jive until around 98 or 99. But the same label at some point in time nonetheless.
@RICO_SUAVE_86_3 жыл бұрын
@@wallyhavoc860 I stand corrected. Now that you bring that up, in retrospect it is factual and makes sense, because I remember it was around 1999 when, if I'm not mistaken, ICP and Twiztid went to Island Def Jam Music Group (not to be confused with Def Jam which DMX, Redman, Ja Rule, Jay-Z, etcetera etcetera were on, but still kind of the same label anyways lol). I just remember from 1999 & up to about 2001 or 2002, when I would dig thru the crates at Tower Records I would see the Island Def Jam Music Group logo on the back of their CD cases. From 2002 & on they never really signed to another major label imprint again and distributed most or all of their music independently.
@wallyhavoc8602 жыл бұрын
@PERSIAN BROTHA FROM THE BAY MOBBIN' They signed with Hollywood Records in 97 after Hollywood bought their contract from Jive Records. After Hollywood (thanks to Disney) pulled their album off shelves the day it came out, Island won a bidding war that was going on when Hollywood dropped them. They linked up with Twiztid not too long after they signed with Hollywood (You can see Twiztid in the back seat of the car in the "Hokus Pokus" video). Shortly after Psychopathic Records released Twiztid's first record "Mostasteless," and when they signed with Island, Psychopathic had to pull that record and come up with a re-issue. It's good to note that when ICP and Twiztid signed with Island, it was before they were bought by Def Jam and actually became the Island/Def Jam we've known for so long now. And you're right. 1999 through early 2001 were the Islands years. They did sign a distribution deal with Sony's D3 Entertainment after that for a few albums, but they've been primarily independent since they left Island. With new ownership came more scrutiny towards the clowns from label execs and how seriously the label took their music at that point and they basically let ICP's contract expire. They dropped 3 albums on Island along with 2 for Twiztid.

Most people that instantly conclude that ICP sucks, I can guarantee they have actually never taken the time to investigate their music to form their OWN opinion. ICP has a wide range of music, they're highly creative, and they've collaborated with other big artists such as Tech N9ne, Ice Cube, Snoop, Geto Boys, and so on. The fact that ICP is thriving more than ever is astounding, in spite of overcoming decades of ignorant hate from the public. First time I met the clowns was in 1999 in Columbus Ohio at a CD warehouse Instore. Still got my autographs.. Had ICP sign my court papers from some Juggalo graffiti I did.. and had Twiztid and Blaze sign the Tree Of life page I ripped out of a Kabbalah.

I still remember walking into Tower Records right as they were taking Milenko off the shelf. I tried to grab one still on the shelf and the part time punk told me I couldn't buy it. We got into a conversation on why and I was like, man, let me just snag one. Say I snuck it by you. (I wasn't a kid at the time. I was....let me do the math....I think it came out in 1997, so I was 23.) Part time punk said no, because rules. Well, damned if I'll take orders from part time punk. He was sitting on a stool where he was reorganizing the CD's, so the box was next to him with the Milenko's he took down. I snatched one and ran towards the counter. I wasn't really stealing it, I was just trying to avoid ego tripping part time punk. I was planning to pay for it. Part time punk decides he wants to flex some authority, so he calls security on me. Next I'm running from a really fat security guy (so it was easy to keep away) and after darting around a few shelves like it's a football game of me versus half of Tower's staff, I make it to the door and take off. So now I was a thief because I still had the CD. I was a thief of something I tried to pay for! Funny thing is three of the guy staff and fatty McSecurity guard continued running after me outside, around the parking lot. A very dedicated staff for this one CD. I lured them out far into the parking lot, doubled back and actually ran back into the Tower Records and laid the money down in cash for the CD on the counter for the fine ass goth chick working the register who just stood there cool and collected, a big smirk at watching everyone running everywhere, and I darted back out and escaped. (I'm a sucker for chicks dressing evil and rolling their eyes. But who isn't?) To this day I still have that CD. Ah, memories.

i remember hearing about them when i was in elementary/middle school and assuming they were a rock group, in fact i didnt know the difference in them and kiss... . .And im actually a Hip hop artist, But their grind was unmatched!No wonder why i heard about them so much!... #Salute....

Been into them since 98 when i was 11 years old, they've always got a ton of hate both from other rap fans and from the media. So I love that Vlad's got a 3 part interview with em here and I'm reading the comments section and seeing everyone give em respect, say they're cool guys etc..if you don't like the music it's all good, i certainly understand, it's a unique taste..but glad they're getting some respect and love lately..it's good to see, they've worked real hard. Thanks to everyone being open minded bout them.

Yes! They mentioned ESHAM. I feel he’s gonna be next on here. I was already told that I was weird because I listen to artist like ESHAM and Triple 6 Mafia but I just appreciate listening to a variety of creativity. Their craft are essentially movies to me. That’s what I tell my friends who love gory horror films and romantic comedies at the same time. It’s just great to really see that Vlad is tapping in those roots where fans like myself wonder if others know of artists we listen to and not just what’s on the radio. I love underground music and appreciate their longevity despite no mainstream outlook.

That's an awsome and hilarious story about getting all that money from different record labels. I remember when I was about 13 and I got my hands on the riddle box CD I swear I must of wore that CD out I listened to it so much. Then I went back and listened to all of their stuff, I've allways had mad respect for icp I still listen to their music sometimes and I'm 33 now. Nobody does the wicked shit like ICP.
