Part 4: • Chingy on Meeting Nell...
Part 6: • Chingy on Older Artist...
Part 1: • Chingy on His Family B...
--------
In this clip, Chingy spoke about signing with Ludacris’ label, Disturbing the Peace, which Shawn Prez said surprised him because of Chingy’s connection to Nelly. Chingy explained that he was friends with the brother of St. Lunatics rapper Ali, who Chingy said he stayed in the studio and recorded music with. Chingy went on to speak about forming a group with Ali, and Nelly’s manager hearing the music and representing them. Chingy added that he was opening for Nelly in 10,000 seat venues, and he went on to share a story about going to a party and Nelly telling Chingy that he would sign him but not the others in his group. From there, Chingy explained that in the summer of 2002 he heard the “Right Thurr” beat, and he added that he had the hook and verse for years. Chingy also spoke about recording “Holiday Inn” the same year, and he revealed that his then-girlfriend is the woman on the hook. Moving along, Chingy spoke about Ludacris being on the “Anger Management” tour with Eminem, and he added that he went backstage at the St. Louis show. Chingy went on to speak about meeting Ludacris’ manager, Chaka Zulu, who he sent his demo tape. Chingy added that Chaka knew “Right Thurr” would be a hit, and told him to finish it and send it back. Chingy revealed that he then got his deal with Capitol Records and “Right Thurr” was #1 the following year. To hear more, including Chingy’s reaction to Chaka Zulu being shot, hit the above clip.

I disagree. I don't think Nelly was the jealous type. In fact I was impressed with how Nelly constantly put others on. On that Welcome to Atlanta remix Murphy Lee talks about how Nelly was supposed to be on it, but he told Murphy Lee to do it because he wanted Murphy to get his shine. Murphy Lee told that story. It’s a slippery slope being an artist, and signing to another artist, because it can boost your career, but it can also hinder you. Luda solid for letting Chingy do his thing, but Chingy was destined to be a star regardless. With the rest of DTP (excluding Tity Boi, who later became 2 Chainz) they were all talented but being under another artist they were only gonna go so far. It was smart not signing to Nelly, because sometimes an artist with an ego is gonna stunt the growth of another artist that’s signed to him, but alot of times just because an established artist has a big fanbase, dosen’t mean that their influence is STRONG enough to PUSH another artist. Nelly was successful but he could only really push Murphy Lee, not the entire St. Lunatics.

@jarellbrown6974

I'm glad the beef got squash to bro cause at the time it was bad and then Nelly and chingy was arguing over the word Dirty since we all know that's a st Louis lingo but chingy claimed that folks in st Louis was using the word prior before Nelly which may be true to a certain degree and I just think Nelly branded the word and put it out to the world for put us to get put up on game on how they talk out there which was good marketing and I remember Nelly's older cousin was in the beef movie and he was a street cat and he didn't play about him at all and he was like if anybody got a problem with Nelly got a problem with me and don't no motherf**** wanna see me or my comrads in these streets and then when chingy got the deal with capital records/DTP the st lunatics found out about it on the radio and their feelings was hurt since he didn't tell the guys about it and they felt like chingy was acting brand new when he used to be on tour with them but Ali tried to get him signed to universal but they didn't want him which was one of the main reasons how he was able to sign with the other company.

It's funny you say that. Because the past decade has been nothing but Trap. even in Latino music, it's all Spanish trap. I mean, how much of the same thing have we had for 10 years? In the beginning I did enjoy a ton of it, but it's gotten to a point this is disco music. It's become generic, and I'm tired of hearing a chrip and brrr in the background, with an 808. I've been wondering what new sound will evolve, but this is where we've been the last 10 years. It's trap/stripper music. I look back at the early 00s, and man was each rapper distinctly different. Now? There's nothing special about hip hop.

Chingy tells a story like he knows the person asking questions knows dirt or is really interested in the dirt. So Chingy defense mechanism is to make sure every nook and cranny of the story is presented so he can begin to chip away at the story. I don't know if that is even a defense mechanism or not, but I notice some of him in story telling us similar to me.
@jarellbrown6974

I notice that to but I think the reason why it seems like a defense mechanism is because he wants the people to pay attention to his story as he goes in to depth about certain events that happen to him and I notice that the first time when he did a interview with Bet a few years ago on this show called "Finding" and he had the same calm mannerism on that show just like he doing now.

Nelly should have been signed Chingy , Nelly could have signed a lot of guys out of St Louis, he put the Lunatic’s on, but truth be told Murphy Lee was the only one that was nice on the mic.but for whatever reason he didn’t pop like he should have. bottom line is when it’s your turn to go, you gotta go.
