I cried like a baby that day because Jay meant everything to us. Growing up in Hollis and knowing Jay personally, he was a genuinely good dude. He took care of a lot of people. Got cats jobs in the industry that otherwise would have never gotten one. It still saddens me to this day. Hollis has never been the same since he died

Bimmy is accurate. JMJ was allowing the older guy to live in one of his home for free; although, he had begun to have some financial issues himself as a result of helping so many. They didn’t appreciate him giving them what little he had. For instance, if JMJ had 50 bucks and there were 3 friends who needed money, J would give each of them $15 a piece leaving him with value menu money. Unfortunately, those friends are mad and don’t value that he split his last with them. People don’t value the good hearted.

I was a huge Run-DMC fan. Sucker MC is what got me hooked on the Hip Hop lifestyle. I went to as many shows as I could. I bumped into those dudes several times and always got love from them. A few months before Jay was murdered, they did a show in a tiny club in Manhattan. I found out by accident the day of and ran down to the club and got a ticket. The show was awesome. Afterwards, I went up to Jay and started talking to him as he was packing up. I asked if I could help and he let me. I carried a crate to a car outside. He was super cool. Much love for Jay.

Jam Master Jay wasn’t distant from the public or the people from his neighborhood. He would actually bring his children to the park in Hollis Queens and play basketball with his Bluetooth in his ear and a gold chain on with no security. If you're curious: the two men mentioned in the vid (Washington and Jordan Jr.) were ultimately convicted of JMJ's murder this February. There were, in fact, eyewitnesses in the room when JMJ got shot; they were just terrified to come forward for a long time. There may have been a third accomplice, too, - a Mr. Bryant has been charged and will get tried in 2026. During the trial, JMJ's cousin confirmed the narrative that Vlad put forward here - that JMJ was short on finances and so got into hustling. To that end, he (Jay) had procured 20 pounds of coke to resell it. He had an agreement with Washington and Jordan Jr. to sell it off with them, dividing up the proceeds, but then Jay cut them out of the deal. The two (three, if Bryant's guilt is proven) retaliated.

I started listening to RUN D.M.C in 84, I lived out east on long island where nobody had even heard of rap, my dad was a banker, and across the street was Djnow Records, on Deer Park Ave. I got my first set of MKs from PC Richards when I was in 5th grade, and back when Radio Shack was the bomb, my dad would build me massive 15-inch bass bins and all kinds of crazy speakers. from 96-2001 I was djing deep house music in the AM at Hampton/NYC clubs, the recipe is Hip Hop night, a House DJ for an hour twice a night, so people would go to the bar, and then the same formula on House nights, on the back of the record they had the Hollis crew, and in 1997 I was Djing live on the air on the MTV owned radio station 105.3, and I look out of the corner of my eye and the Hip Hop DJ is Hurricane, Port Jazz Port Jefferson NY 1997...it was one of the greatest moments in my DJ career...

I finally got away from all that I really stopped about 3 years ago and it's now that I'm looking at working as my money maker before I was still doing a little something on the side. Now I'm done with all that and I'm working nomore bullshit took me years to get away from that life.
