January has been a very stressful month but I really related to what you were talking about the go go go life style I just graduated with my 2nd masters last year so it's been hard to slow down. I have during this time found diamond art and that's helping but my job has been stressful where I have not been reading a lot. I think we all need to take things slower this year and enjoy the times of piece that we get even if there small.

Winter vlogs need to be full of cozy days inside reading and talking about books, love it! I'm currently so into a non-fic book called To Speak for the Trees: My Life's Journey from Ancient Celtic Wisdom to a Healing Vision of the Forest by Diana Beresford-Kroeger. This year I'm making an effort to learn about my Celtic roots and this is a fantastic start, I am learning so much! 📚☕

Toxic productivity seems a hard problem to overcome. Currently I'm finding that my mood is tied to how productive I am. Scheduling time to just relax seems a good idea, especially in a busy life. Though I know I have a bad habit of going 'oh I could just do a bit of this' and do something like write a book review

I'm graduating this year and I cannot wait to start living slow and living small, I'm very much a nature girl, and whilst I'm an overachiever and massive academic-lover, I think this will be a really good break for me. It is scary, but it's the healthiest thing for my future, I think. On a less serious note, you've convinced me to pick up the lady of darkness series, and I can't wait 🤣

If you want to try something different, I like to ‘mind map’ books when I read them and then put little notes at the end for reminders for either just the story or the important bits for the next in the series.

ahhh the lady of darkness serie was my favourite series of last year!! (personally I think book 5 is the best) it's so good, it's also amazing on a reread as you pick up on so much foreshadowing that I did not pick up on the first time!! Once you've finished lady of darkness series there is also another series the author is currently writing (first book is out) which is so different but it has the same magic structure!!

I had a similar experience in December as I had lumbago 🥲 I‘ve never had lower back pain before and I had to take it easy for a few days. My body clearly told me that I was doing too much at once as December was a busy month for me. So my intention for 2024 is to set healthier boundaries and to make sure that I rest enough 🫶🏻

Southern Hemisphere Folks setting up goals in the middle of Summer don't do much better than us lot. :) Shorter timeframes are probably better for accomplishing resolutions. So much can happen in 12months, that some of your resolutions might not even be relevant anymore 10, 11 months onwards.
@AFrolicThroughFiction11 ай бұрын
Summer is also not the best time for new goals etc because there’s *so* much going on aha, it’s like the opposite effect! Agree about the shorter timeframe though, life never looks the same after 12 months and goals quickly become irrelevant

hey ashleigh (and anyone reading this) - I just recently moved to edinburgh 🦄for my master's and would absolutely love to hear about your favorite places in the city, be it a particularly pretty part of a park or a lovely café, a beautiful building or a scenic walk. the areas you show in your videos look so gorgeous, but i'm not familiar enough with the city yet to be able to figure out what you're filming at any given time! it's hard to get myself to explore on my own and I haven't made any local friends yet, so having specific destinations to look forward to would help a ton. thanks in advance to anyone who can help out! 💕

Welcome to Edinburgh! 🫶🏻 In this video You see mainly Leith Docks - if you google map Mimi’s Bakehouse by the docks/shore it’ll take you right there (and this is a fab place for cake aha)! I love Stockbridge, and it’s worth seeing where your closest access point to the Water of Leith Walk is as this is the river walk that runs all the way through the city! You can access it from both places I just mentioned. For bookshops and coffee shops, Leith Walk has loads (3 bookshops, a million coffee shops aha). Portobello beach if you fancy water, anywhere in Old Town for old buildings! 🤎
