Hola Carley, I found your channel last year through your twilight videos. I then fell in love with all of your book videos. Long format, book content made me so happy. It makes me even more happy that you made a book video update this year. While I understand that you wanted to venture into other topics, the way you explain and talk about books is so special and fabulous. I hope you make more frequent book videos this year, but it is your channel. Please know that you have inspired me to read more. I take your book recommendation seriously. Already this year I read “my year of rest and relaxation” because of your recommendation, and I loved it.

This video was really entertaining, Carly! If you’re reporting on the Salem Witch trials, I REALLY recommend Caliban and the Witch by Sylvia Federici. I discovered your channel last year and you motivated me to start reading again after many years, and your recommendations helped me to find more “adult” literature. Last year I had a small episode, almost spiraling, and realized that I just dedicated my life to my job. Doing something like reading helps me to unwind and doing it in English, not my native language, makes it more stimulating. I stumbled with a book that became one of my favorites of 2023 but not many people talk about it, is the dud avocado by Elaine Dundy. I think you would enjoy it because it reminded me of Marlowe Granados’ Happy Hour, another of my favorites in 2023. Thank you for creating such awesome and funny content and sorry for the weird English all over the place.

Ok I haven’t read Thursday murder club but I did used to work at a retirement home as a nurse. I had a patient who was very confused and often would hallucinate people committing crimes and was often beside herself about it, understandably. In order to get her to take her meds, I had to pretend I was a detective inquiring about the crimes she was seeing. So essentially that patient should be a character in the novel.
