What an absolutely fantastic idea the Transport Manager Unlocked course is. Wish there had been something like that back when I started as as a TM 30 years ago, although I had my qualification 6 years before that. What I can say is that it is better to do more than, rather than just enough, when it comes to safety, drivers hours and especially maintenance. Attendance at this sort of course by MDR will most definitely be looked on by the authorities in a positive light and would hopefully show that new TM's are taking their role seriously. That was very informative Hayley and lets hope many more new TC's will emerge making transport a better career choice and a safer and even more professional industry in the future. Great video again Hayley all the best to you.

Fantastic number 100 video 🎉🚚✔. Excellent review on both courses Hayley, very detailed and through; quite a responsibility on ensuring both drivers, vehicles and general public/fellow road users are kept safe. 30 plus years ago, there would be loads of truck tyre debris on the roads, plus spilt fuel, far improved now. Car and vans should be checked more regularly in my personal opinion. Great job on the MDR Transport Manager Unlocked video 📹 👏. Very well worth the honour of you 100th video, thanks for sharing and credit to MDR. Best regards from the Black Country.

I got thrown into the TMCPC course with zero knowledge of the transport world and i'd only done drivers mate work and bits helping with vehicle loading. I passed the course and signed straight onto holding the licence for a transport operation. The one piece of advice i'd offer you or anyone else is find people with the knowledge and do things along the line of the law and take advice from them and also drivers might be villified but a driver with years of knowledge can teach you a lot more than a couple of weeks in a class room can. I've had my cpc for 4 years now and i'm still learning every day and i don't think i'll ever stop learning. The Transport manager unlocked course sounds a brilliant idea though.

Did mine a few years ago after working as a Transport Ops manager for years. Never needed it before as someone else held a CPC at the company I worked for. When I was made redundant I did both my HGV and Managers CPC but have found I enjoy driving so much I've never actually used the CPC. Still, it's a good thing to have, and certainly gives you more options, and as a driver a different perspective on everything that's involved in running an operation. Definitely worth doing in my opinion.

Great video 👍 I’ve been driving class 1’s for 12 years now and have decided that this year I need some sort of progression. I’ve booked onto an ADR course and will look at doing ManagerCPC after. The only thing putting me off is like you said in the video, I don’t want to spend all that money for an employer to just toss my CV to one side.

Thanks Hayley I’m looking at doing the Transport Manager course next year. I’m looking at becoming an owner op witch may be an advantage but a con I will have a lot to learn above the transport manager. I’m going to look for a week or two intensive course witch I feel would be better for how I learn. But in the mean time I’m going to do as much research and learning before. I may look at the following up course that sounds good. I’ve looked at having an external transport manager but I feel I could save money But more importantly better informed and trained buy doing it myself and I feel if I’m going to run a transport company 1 or a few trucks it’s better if I’m more informed and know personally how to stay compliant and hopefully run a professional out fit.

Wow you’re amazing Haley. thanks for your advise. Having been van driver myself for 8 years I have dealt with CPC Mangers quarter off my life. And know first hand how they work. But never did I ever think I would want to be one. Now I have passed my Class 1 and I was thinking about O licence and who better then me with first hand experience to be my own CPC manager. You’re videos have been so informative and helpful I can’t thank you enough. And I wish all the best to you in your future role

Hi Hayley, very informative vlog you've put together here, very impressed, it's made me realise that I actually do know a fair amount of this already, makes me a bit more confident to book a course! I've been driving 15 years (professionally) and was a TMs delegate for 5 years, so used to tacho reading, invoicing for services etc, i was worried about the business/accounts side of it, but I think I would put more time into that side of the training and 🤞

Firstly genuinely well done Hayley ..Some advice for anyone intending taking up the reigns as transport manger in my opinion these days you could be walking a tightrope even more now esp If your company isn’t 100% compliant. Reason for this comment is in regards to the newly introduced DVSA legislation and what’s proposed ..(most of it is utter nonsense ) salary wise also it rarely reflects what it should be…factor in potential prison term for the most serious of offenses ..?

by the sounds the 3 days training was a lot more informative than the actual course work to get the certificate, as sounded like a lot of important questions still left unanswered before becoming a transport manager, which sounds like you have learned now. great on you for sharing this experience with others Hayley.
