Vlog #20 - The Chemo is Working!
Hey guys, It's Tammy! Welcome to my crazy channel! Glad you decided to join me on my Crazy Cancer Journey!
In today's video, I end up heading to my mom's for a while! The pain was getting beyond what I could handle and I needed to stay with my mother and nieces for a nit while I tried to recoup!
On May 16 th, Mom and I headed to the Cross Cancer for my appointment with my oncologist. The good news is that the oral chemotherapy is actually working! I have been fighting cancer for three years now and this is the first treatment that has actually been killing the cancer! I am extremely happy! The bad news is that it is causing my Lupus to flare!
I have had SLE Lupus since I was a child. I actually have severe Lupus and have had many Lupus attacks in the past. But for the past couple of years, my Lupus activity has actually been manageable and I haven't had much Lupus activity. The new oral chemo medication I am taking called methotrexate has caused me to gio into a Lupus attack/flare. Thus, the severe pain in my joints and abdomen. I have no choice but to ride it out (under close medical monitoring) until th activity dies down.
Yes, the chemo is working! I know and accept that Mycosis does not have a cure. The chemo will eventually stop working and the cancer will come back. But, my oncologist has said we will rotate the two chemotherapy drugs, if needed. I may have many more years left! I certainly know I am not going to go without a fight!
Hope is important when you are fighting anything in your life! Hope gives us the courage to keep fighting and it gives us a reason to want to fight!

At this point, we had no idea I had endometrial cancer. We assumed that I was in a Lupus attack. Turns out, the pain etc was from endometrial cancer. If only we had known earlier. The next blood test after this one came back with off the scale white and red cell counts. My oncologist couldn’t understand why. The MF cancer looked like it had improved greatly but the next blood tests showed blood work of stage 4. Once we discovered i had stage 4b endometrial cancer, it all made sense.
