Hello Tone's 🙂Do you use anything to treat the aphids? That's some nice looking plant starts and very nice large onions (great harvest there my friend). Gorgeous beets 😃

I don't use pesticides, I use my finger and thumb to wipe out the aphids when I see them. I also move ladybirds and lacewings around, when I find them, hoping that they will feed, lay eggs and do what nature intended. An old gardener once told me that if a plant is stressed then it is more susceptible to aphid, or any bug, attack. I think I'll have to treat my flowers and vegetables better next season to reduce their stress.

@@TonesGardeningVlogs I was thinking along the lines of 2 tbsp of dish soap mixed with 1 litre of water and sprayed on. Fingers and natural pests are best I agree 🙂

@@AlmostaGreenAcre-zs5eu If soap were to be used it'd have to be hard soap, like from a bar, as it is the solid soap material that blocks the insect spiracles. A bit like when I was a kid and there was a ring around a bath that I had to wash off. I think friendly insects are cleaner. When I first saw ladybird larvae I thought they were terrifying looking things, that wouldn't be out of place as a sci-fi beast, especially when compared to the cute adult form.

Hello Duncan and thank you for becoming a subscriber to my channel, I’m now subscribed to your channel and looking forward to watching some of your videos, especially the one about growing giant onions. I mentioned to Krista, of Almost a Green Acre, that if soap were to be used it'd have to be hard soap, as it is the solid soap material that blocks the insect spiracles. However, I’m just editing my next video where I release a predator into the little greenhouse to hopefully despatch the aphids. Cheers.

@@CoastalGardensNW Good to know, I might try that if the wee beasties get away from the predator.
