I have a nice size rock full of porites and xmas tree worms all different colors and I have to say it's one of my favorite pieces in my reef. I don't ever feed them specifically, rather they get their food from feeding the fish in the system as well as my LPS corals when I feed RR. I highly suggest picking up one of these pieces especially when you can get your hands on a piece that has an abundance of colors like the one's in this video, which in my experience isn't very often that you get the color variety.

Try also put an empty live rock there. It would be interested to see if the worms want to colonize the empty rock or the coral covered one.

i loved this tank from the minute you inrtoduced it. and i am gald to see tangs can live alongside those worms - i would have guessed they're to nippy and harm the worm's gills. a mixture of anthhias and the filter feeders sounds like a winwin combo. maybe adding a big clam as well just for fun. thos could be a tank with heave feeding and an algea refugium added but no skimmer needed.

Hello Jake.... I love your christmas tree worm rocks and appreciate your videos. I have collected 4 rocks of my own. I have a melanurus wrasse who does not seem to bother the worms. I'd like get additional wrasses, but am afraid that I may get one that will pick at the worms. What is your opinion regarding keeping wrasses with christmas tree worm rocks. Have you heard of or seen fish picking at the bisma worms? Looking forward to your next update!

Its christmas worm is a sps or lps ? Because for me like the skin like montipora with worm on top
@MW-ut3dk5 жыл бұрын
Would these worms prefer to feed like NPS corals-small but frequent feeds? What if you add a timed feeder like an eheim fish feeder to drop multiple daily small feeds down your tube feeder so that your worms receive multiple small feeds daily? Maybe then the nutrient load would be less and, for those who don’t have the luxury of a large system to absorb leftovers, the need for water changes would be less.

Reef Builders Thank you Jake! Do either of those bother your other coral?
@jasonjackson45285 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Jake! I've been thinking for a long time about getting an xmas tree worm group, so I found this interesting. Random comments: 1. supposedly fresh hatched brine shrimp are among the best food for corals and the like. at some point I'd be curious how they compare to the brightwell food. 2. supposedly each species of worm only will borrow in specific *species* of coral. So not every porites species will work; only encrusting species, and particularly Porites lobata is a common host. (lobata is among the most common species of coral there is in the wild, though it's rare in the aquarium trade. As an aside, if whomever you get your porites from does online orders, I'd appreciate a link. :D ). Thanks again!

Ok the species name is spirobranchus giganteus, but they are only about 1 and a half inches. Given that they're that size, I'd say that's a bit false. If 1 and a half inches is giganteus, trust me I'll be referring to something I got as extremally giganteus from now on. Don't judge me, I'm talking about Scarlet. Scarlet is my 7-inch tarantula.
