It looks like awesome fun but I've never understood why people ship giant bikes around the world at extreme expense. I guess if you have the $$$, why not? But then there's import fees and red tape too. Trips I've done I carry universal soft bags and buy or rent a bike at the destination, drop it off or sold it on the longer journey. Using a crap third world bike is half the adventure for me!

hows clearance for rotopax rear suspension fully compressed?

Hey what size Rotopax is that? 2 gallon?
@goodrumlv4 жыл бұрын
Brap4ever that looks like the 1 gallon. I’ve been trying to decide myself, which size to get. The 1.75 just looks too big. I’d like the extra fuel but size and weight is a big deal.

I recommend you change your Spotlight-DRL switch to a Day/Night mode switch ; use a relay and have dual in - 1 out - so the power source of the dash switch marked Day/Night (no switch on the bars) - in day mode the source of Vcc is the Battery ignition Switch (direct battery wiring will ultimate catch you out with a flat battery situation) ;; in Night mode the Vcc is drawn from the HiBeam triggering the relay. This way the SPOTS are "on" for day riding and "off" for night ; but - after the car goes past and youre leaned over in a turn, in the wilds, you flip to beam and get the full power of all your lights including the SPOTS. I run it this way on my KTM1190R and it's solid.

In lockdown in the U.K. so just rewatching your Vlogs while working. The rotopax idea is so good and I wonder why motech have never produced an add on for their rack. I’m going to copy yours !! Let’s see how your vlogs have influenced my gear choices so far - Africa Twin (check), motech pannier system (check), denallis (check), tool setup (almost), motech drybag (check). Well if it’s tried and tested around the world for you then it’s good enough for me !! Stay safe 👍

I need to pay your friend to make me the same mount for the rotopax as he did for you. I have the same Swmotech Rack and 1 gal. rotopax, just trying to think of a DIY solution

What was your experience with the Karoo 3 on the street. I have not had mine for long on my 1200 GS but I noticed that on the road, they cause the bike to tip in to turns a bit abruptly. It's not that they are unstable, it's that the tip-in is fast. Curious to get your thoughts.

Definitively going to follow your world tour. I also have the rally red AT. Give us feedback about the stock suspension with the bike fully loaded. Be safe.

Damn it's nice to see where Wil started. Not a great videographer here, but he's experimenting, and I can't wait to get to now in the playlist to see how much better his videography and editing gets. I really enjoy that mass market media is not only in the hands of corporate sponsorship, and that someone with passion and interest can jump straight into the market with less than a fat stack of cash.

I noticed in one of your other videos you mentioned you switched to a smaller waterproof duffel in the rear to prevent interference with your pans. What size do you recommend?

karro 3 is 50 50 on off road. maybe for a journey is a bit to much off road greep?

I am guessing that those holes are for optional bolts to prevent the luggage from being removed.

I know you toured on a klr and then went to the africa twin. Ive been thinking of getting a tenere or an africa twin to replace my klr. What areuour thoughts. I love the klr have put over 50,000 on it, however it lacks the power for long trips and the vibration of course. I. Looking to do many more long trips but time is needed when traveling on the klr long distances. Your thoughts appreciated.

Good solid setup - quick tip: get some Sugru and stick it between the screen and fairing. I did the Trans America trail last year on my AT with the same Zumo and it helped a load! Good luck

Jason WD whoa. What's that stuff? Does it stop the jiggle?
@JasonWD7 жыл бұрын
William Gloege you can buy it in home depot and I think b&q in the UK. it's also awesome for repairing stuff. have a Google and get a multi pack.
@JasonWD7 жыл бұрын
and yeah. totally stops the jiggle and prevents the screen mount from fatigue cracks!

Jason WD well I'm in Africa. So may have to deal with the jiggle until Italy. Thx for the heads up.
