I love watching your eye movement and accessing different parts of memory. Playing a vintie Selmer Mark VI tenor 79xxx, Flipping around on mpc'd and reeds. I'd love to get a KB Hand Hammered Copper Neck
@jacknelson5891 Жыл бұрын
I tried the KB redwood. Was great for my intonation and slightly improved the fullness of my sound in the upper register. Ultimately I decided to opt for a Tino schucht neck. Not saying that it’s necessarily better, but certainly worth a try if you ever come across one.

Current: Yamaha z silver jody jazz DV jazz select 3h unfiled on both alto and tenor. Dream: probably same tbh. I'd love to try those ishimori woodstone saxes or the vintage bronze yamahas. With a zillion dollar setup I know that I'd just still sound like me and have all the same hangups about my playing as I do now.

Yeah, tha's why when I see where stablished great players like him started from, I loose all hope of ever catching up to them.
@alexambroise1113 жыл бұрын
@@MrGuto Don't though!!! Coltrane had a late glow up, Charlie Parker had a cymbal thrown to him as a wake up call, etc. Lots of my local heroes in Montreal that I personally know have had college-age glow ups too. If you shut the world off and practice a few hours per day consistently, you can progress really fast. That's where a good teacher comes into play. Chad LB's stuff helped players go from eh to really good pretty darn fast.

First of all you sound awesome, you are an absolute assassin. Can you do a video on the most efficient way to practice and maybe a day to day routine to weekly, also goals we should try to focus on and how to self analyze? My current setup: I sold my alto S 80. Strictly tenor-I've got a King Super 20 silver Sonic with a old but non-vintage dukoff 7( always felt like I was fighting that setup but bought into the vintage hype). I'm currently in china for school and didn't want to risk the King 20 so I went to buy an Eastman 52, just felt chunky and kind of plain, ended up getting a MK 7 for less bread. A little clickety clackety but it felt like home, like A&W root beers and Hardees Ham and Swiss w/horsey sauce. lol I'm also playing on an SR Tech Dream Setup: SBA or maybe check out the Lupifaro

Jupiter yas-1100(I need a new horn but this one works for me) Meyer 7M ebonite And Rico jazz select filed reeds 3h I really love this setup, I really need a smaller tip mouthpiece to have more control of the tone color, but for now this is good

Current setup is an cannonball big bell unlaquered, with vandoren zz reeds, and either a Jody Jazz Giant 8* or a Jody Jazz DV 8* depending on the gig. Not too happy with my reeds these days, and would prefer to find a mouthpiece that can comfortably handle both my pop and straight ahead gigs.

Great vlog Ryan. Really interesting stuff. My setup now is Ref 54 tenor. Retro Revival Florida Double Ring Link 7* with stock Link lig and Vandoren Java greens and sometimes reds. I know that you spent some time on the RR Florida Double Ring. Can I ask why you moved to the RR Crescent? Was there a specific reason or was it just a natural transition due to your relationship with RR? I love Links. I've got three (if you coun the RR facsimile), a vintage STM (which I changed the tip/facing from an 8* to a 7) and a new STM New York 7*. My ideal tenor setup tenor would be a Lupifaro or an Ishimori or a great 6. I've had my Ref54 for 5 years and it just seems to be getting better and better, although I don't know if that's me and my relationship with it, or the RR mcp which I love. Love your playing man.

I'm still exploring my sound and working on improving it. My setup is powerful but sometimes it's not loud enough for some reason. Also, when I'm playing openly without any music(written or played), I'm loud and I play better than if I'm playing a transcription or a solo. Could it be a mental thing or a embrochure issue? This could be another topic as well.

Update: I got a rovner ligature so that's pretty cool..
