@George Hofer one thing that I really preface in my videos is that sure there are somethings that are the same from one colony to the next, but there are also big differences and my videos are about OUR community, there are HUGGEEE differences between the 3 different types of Hutterites, I don't know which one you are from but for us those facts are correct. they were proof read by multiple people from different colonies before I posted them online, and it something that is part of the hutterite life, every individual person's story is going to be different.

Love it when your brothers tease you! I have 3 brothers and no sisters and we had lots of laughs growing up! I’m happy to hear about your beautiful traditions regarding boyfriends, marriage etc ! Thanks for sharing that. You know I always wanted a pierced nose starting when I was maybe 14 yrs old (i am now soon to be 63), but even for a lil hippie it would not have been allowed and I did not want to embarrass my family. Soon as I moved away at 18 for University I did it! Its a very personal thing you know.. how you change your body either by modifications like tattoos or piercings. Even wearing your hair in dread locs, which I did not do until my parents passed away. Its nobody’s business, like my wise Granny use to say its between you and God. Bottom line is God loves you no less no matter what. Thanks for the recipes too, although I’m vegan, I like to tweak recipes to fit my own moral convictions. I wanted to ask you if Passover is observed as a holy day in your church? (Passover today 🙌🏻) Also, do you do anything special during holy week as we call it in my faith which is Episcopal. I know you have traditions for Easter! God’s peace to you and your colony! ✌🏻

today is actually the Sunday that a lot of our young people are getting baptized. there is no certain age that you do it, you go when you are ready. so even though the colonies have people getting baptized every year it doesn't happen at every colony every year (hopefully I didn't confuse you with the way I explained it) I think its been three years since we have had one. oh yeah I'm sure you can tweek the recipes so that they suit you I'm sure they will be good either way. yes that's true God will always love you. God bless you and your family.

Nope not confused a lot of my family are Baptists and they get Baptized after they accept Jesus as their Savior, no matter their age ... like 8yrs old and above. Often times also baptized around Easter. So I’m totally familiar with that tradition and its beautiful. I’m not saying the doctrines surrounding the Baptists and Hutterites are the same, I’m sure there is more to it. I just love observing other Jewish and Christian traditions throughout the seasons. I would love to travel to Israel some day. Just to observe all three of the big religions that are from the Old Testament. I also hope you do not misunderstand my musings. They are not all super well thought out! hahah God Bless!

Hi Giselle, I'm curious about housing on the colony :-) I saw the layout of your houses and community buildings that you showed (from up in the air) in another vlog (the aerial shots in that video were so beautiful, what a really neat thing to do!), but I don't know how you could add more houses to your colony without ruining the thoughtful design that's in place for everything now, with the houses in a circle around the community buildings. - In the aerial view it looked like all of the houses were the same (except for one house that was much smaller, maybe it wasn't a house), do the houses all look the same on the outside but are built different inside? So that some have only one family and some have two families, etc? - Does everyone continue to live with their parents if they are not married, no matter how old they are? Or are men and women able to get their own house if they are not married after a certain age? - Do newly married couples ever live with the husband's parents, or do they always get a house of their own? - When a couple is going to get married, is a new house built for them? Or do they sometimes move into an empty house that used to be someone else's home (for example, if the people who used to live there got old and passed away)? - When a couple first gets married and has no children they don't need a big house (and older couples whose children have grown up, married, and moved into their own home don't need a big house either), so do people move into a bigger house as they have more children, and into a smaller house when their children grow up and get married? Thank you (it is a lot of questions) :-)
@gisellewaldner94063 жыл бұрын
a circle is not the best idea even though it does look good when the time comes that we need more houses we are going to have to build behind the circle already standing. yes for the most part they are the same. the newer ones are alike, the older ones are the same so one whenever we build the houses are identical. some are smaller for families that have fewer members. if there is no house when a couple gets married they live with the parents until one becomes available. most houses on our colony have had multiple families so no they don't get a new house unless we really need one but, if needed it gets touched up before the couple moves in. yes the last question is correct the big houses are left for the families with more children and the summer ones for grandparents and couple that at the moment only have one child. no worries abut the questions I hope I answered them all.
@wolfc87553 жыл бұрын
@@gisellewaldner9406 Thank you, Giselle, only one question was not answered :-) can someone get a house of their own after a certain age even if they are not married, or do they have to live with parents always? I Giselle, I just found your channel last night. I wasn't sure if you were a Mennonite or not. Then I seen that you are Hutterite, which I knew nothing of yet. Very interesting! I actually have started attending a Mennonite church in my area and have been following them on You Tube. It showed your channel. So hey! You are such a pretty girl. I think it is neat how you have left twice and returned. I do understand that. I was not raised in church, but I found Jesus when I was 25yrs old and started studying my Bible. I have been to many different church denominations. Many. They are all unique in ways, but I have found the most close knit family feel in a Mennonite church. If you ever decide to leave again, I really believe you would like the Mennonite Christians. I know some Amish who have gone Mennonite and it is a beautiful balance of freedom in Christ and also a very close community of family there. May God direct your steps according to His will for you, in Jesus Name Amen.

So if the marriage is between two people from same colony, does bride still get a week off work to set up new household? Looks like you folks have duplexes...if there is no empty abode for a new couple, do you build one?

Giselle,I noticed how sore your hands look. Do your gloves you wear when preparing food,have latex in them? You may be allergic to latex. Also with your hands in water so much that can cause sore hands,at bedtime rub A and D ointment with a bit of antibiotic ointment, like Neosporin on your hands,rub it in very well and put cotton gloves on your hands,it should help heal them. A and D ointment is usually used on a babies bottom to protect from diaper rash,it makes a barrier. You could also use white socks on your hands at night. Hope this info helps
@gisellewaldner94063 жыл бұрын
thank you for your suggestions I make sure that the gloves I wear are latex free but, I do often wear rubber gloves and the ones we have are not so that could be part of my problem.
@vedcon3 жыл бұрын
@@gisellewaldner9406 Yes that might be part of the problem. I wonder if you could find some thin cotton gloves that you would wear first then the rubber gloves on top so that the skin would not be in contact with the rubber/latex/whatever it is. Cotton is skin friendly, when I wear some non-cotton socks I get the mildew/red skin problem on my feet immediately.

I use a cream called UDDERLY SMOOTH THAT IS SIMILAR TO BAG BALM on my hands and elbows as they get very dry and sore at times. Also lanolin cream or petroleum jelly rubbed on then covered w clean cotton gloves before you go to bed may help. I hope no one in your lovely colony has caught civic and you are all able to get vaccinated. Just finished second Moderns and did well. Thank you for your fun vlogs!

Hello Giselle, I enjoyed seeing your vlog very much. I am curious about some things. My understanding of Hutterite communities is that individualism is shunned as well as personal possessions, freedom of expression etc. Yet when I saw your vlog you are full of life, dress modestly but modernly, have many of the same possessions as any other north american family. You dont seem to have many restrictions upon your activities other than the energy to do them. Would you please explain the difference in viewpoints. Thank you in advance.
@gisellewaldner94063 жыл бұрын
I'm happy to hear that you enjoy the Vlogs. something that everyone should know is that there are three different groups of Hutterites. we do things very differently from each other, our viewpoints and how we go about our daily life is different including how we dress, even though there are still a lot of things that are the same from group to group we think differently. the group I come from from all live in Manitoba and the US, the other two groups are located in Alberta and Saskatchewan. our group is very liberal when it comes to almost everything. I hope I answered your question I should defiantly put it in a video as it might be bit easier to explain.

@@gisellewaldner9406 Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions. I had no idea that there was such diversity in the Hutterites. I definitely favor your brand. It was shocking to me to see a Hutterite vlogging. Now I understand. Thank you.

@@gisellewaldner9406 Yes I think so too. Please forgive my bugging but could you try for let's say a week or so to get off sugar and coffee, drink some good tea instead sweetened with honey? And see if that would have effect or not, then you can go back to your habits if you want, just give it a try please! I wish I know more symptoms I could have asked my sister in my home country she is MD.

@Jacob Stahl Is it probably what you do before such comments? Do your research it's answered by Giselle more than once. The men run the firetrucks building business, some of them also work in farming, carpentry, electrical workshop... I believe they are as busy as the women, they are just mostly camera shy so therefore Giselle has just little chance to film around them, hence mostly the womens' arena is on display. Giselle when I eventually come for a visit tell me not to be shy and show off my face...awww that will be challenging 🤔
@irszgatti3 жыл бұрын
@@gisellewaldner9406 I wouldnt press sorry. I remember my folks had a pig farm for a while, and that was a totally manual process aside from an auger feeder. Something very satisfying about that manual labor though. I totally understand if the guys don't like being on camera though! Not to worry, they probably would just rather focus on thier own lives and thats ok too👍

Giselle just a small suggestion not sure how it would get through: Many people asking general questions about Hutterite life/religion/marriges etc. (understandably so) but they get repeated over and over under different vlogs over the time. Could you off-load such general questions (that do not particularly relate directly to the weekly vlog) to let's say the Community section in your YT profile or elsewhere (somebody might have better idea)? Not everybody spends the time digging through all comments/your answers here and under all vlogs. So just a link in the text section would lead the people to area where all the general questions & answers would take place, maybe even sorted by topics? | I got your Instagram 😉
