I'd been to Latpanchar in January. Managed only an afternoon and the next morning's birding. I was fortunate to sight the rufous necked hornbill within an hour and a half of reaching there! They were near the Jogikhola Climbing spot.

Thats great. I would recommend you go sometime in march. This year mar last week I was there in latpanchar and there was a lot of bird activity. I am sure one or two birding sessions will give you a lot of birds...other months you get different species like in monsoon, the cuckoos and all...you can also try nearby areas as day trip like rongtong, bagora, senchal etc.
