Hello everyone, We get some more paint on the outside in this episode and wow what a difference it has made. A really enjoyable job but time consuming prepping each stage but worth it. Hope you enjoy 👍

Cheers Chris. It's a mammoth job thats for sure but yes it will be worth it in the end. Trying to make hay while the sun shines as they say so we are knackered. Beautiful work as always. My thumbnails were wincing in sympathy as you were having to peel all the tape off - I've done that before and wound up in a lot of pain, the bed of my thumbnails hurt the next day.

You guys have done another cracking job there but at the end you said your going to rub it down again for a third coat my heart sank for for you bet you wish you could leave it now But still it looks very good nice colours almost there then you can put up your brushes for a while fingers crossed 🤞. It's really looking great, I bet that you thought that the painting would never end. Are you sure that Grandad wanted to do it himself and he wasn't "delegated" into doing it. It'll look fantastic when you get the signewriting done.

You have both done an amazing job honestly it looks great. That tape is really good I am going to try some myself. A long task and one that needs great mindfulness and attention to detail. Really well done looking forward to seeing the finish coat being on.

Our boat was painted with Symphony paint, it's good stuff although ours has a few marks now after 4 months out. You did right by keeping the hull black all the way up to the gunwales, that top strip is where all the knocks occur. Keep well both.

Cheers George, Yes really pleased with the paint and yes annoying as it is we all know it is going to get scratched and it's part of boating I suppose. Yes keeping the gunwales black is going to be a lots easier to keep touching up when needed. Hope your still enjoying it out there 👍

May I ask did you need to prime you lay off brush before you stared to lay off. I have watch the master boat painter in Aintree boats but have never seen him start.

Hi John. We never laid off the primer or undercoat but wish we had now. It doesn't really add much time onto the time it's takes rolling it on and in the long run it helps give you a much flatter surface for the top coats. We watch John Barnard on youtube and have followed a lot of his tips but he doesn't' lay off the primer or undercoat so that is why we didn't but if we did it again we would 👍
