Morning are you guys still loving this way of life and has is transpired to be as expected?
@makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg10 күн бұрын
Yes very much so. We really enjoyed last years cruising and looking forward to this years. We are in our winter mooring until end of Feb and have been enjoying holidays and visiting family away from the boat but itching to get back moving now. 👍

A grand day out as Wallace would say. The wide grand union is ideal to learn to steer on. Well done Reggie on that lock. I was really amazed at the number of boats there are on that part of the canal thesa days, far more than in the 1960s when I lived round there!!
@makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg10 күн бұрын
It certainly was 👍. Yes it is a very busy with moored boats down this way and yes I bet it is a massive difference than the 60s.

They were concrete cows, they used to be the most famous feature of Milton Keynes. A lovely stretch of the Grand Union, I was surprised how narrow that section was. The bits without music were much nicer. What a gorgeous park, wouldn't it have been fabulous to have lived there when it was a private dwelling? What a lot of moored boats, it must get extremely busy in the summer. Nice to have you back, I'd be very worried about leaving my car for such a long time in a public place.

Yes we have been really surprised just how nice the canal stretch of Milton Keynes is. So many green areas 👍

For your information they are concrete cows and they are art works it's a bit like saying the angel of the north is just a metal man
@makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg21 күн бұрын
oops sorry about that slip up. I actually thought they were fibreglass but when the kids asked me if the sheep were real or plastic I must of kept that in my mind and said the cows were plastic. I've not actually seen them just knew about them but i will remember they are concrete from now on 👍

Best vlogs on you tube by far. Just brilliant the way canal folk work together. Well Nanna & grandad is there anything you would change on board now you have run her for a few months ?. P.s stay away from the Lymm canal area for the next few years as they have had a really bad breach of the embankment.
@makinganarrowboatwithnannyandg21 күн бұрын
Cheers John, We wouldn't really change much to be honest. We are going to put a vlog out covering all this sort of stuff at the end of the cruising vlogs. Yes lots of problems with the canals at the moment and think it might be many years before we head to Manchester.

Another great episode, I'm sure that you'll do your best with the future episodes. You really do need to get a better light or get that one adjusted, thought that you would have done it as you went through the tunnel, the ideal time,, get your umbrella out for the next tunnel.
@makinganarrowboatwithnannyandgАй бұрын
Cheers Tony, The light is fine we just need to remember not to knock it out of position when we fill the water tank like we did this time. We had tilted it to the right position when we come out of Braunston and forgot Ady had bumped into it and only remembered when we entered the tunnel. We have an enclosed bow so cant adjust it once in the tunnel unless we walk down the gunwale which we aren't going to do that when in the tunnel. one of the downsides of not having a welldeck. What we will do I think is get a stronger light at the stern for when i am filming so viewers can see better. we can see much more that the camera picks up👍
@johnrimmer5955Ай бұрын

If you are calling a day on your vlogs I for one will be totally guttered. You both got me through the worst illness of my life and I’ve even started a re-run from the beginning as I may take the leap myself now I’ve retired. Thank you both so much best wishes. 🙁😫🙁
@makinganarrowboatwithnannyandgАй бұрын
Hi John, Yes we know that some will miss the vlogs but the majority of our subscribers have had enough now and we have accepted that. There is still footage left to show you for a couple of months but after that we may just do one a year or something like that to let those who want to know how we are getting on. We have been away from the boat for a couple of months but are back on Monday and i am going to try and get a vlog edited for this Sunday 🤞
@johnrimmer5955Ай бұрын
@ fantastic news thanks for coming back to me I really do still enjoy your updates
@stevejones21212 ай бұрын
You need some decent lights on that boat.
@makinganarrowboatwithnannyandgАй бұрын
Hi Steve, We just need to put it in the right position and make sure we don't knock it out of position before we enter a tunnel like we did. The camera doesn't pick up the light as well as we can see it. Many people who usually film have strong lights on the stern, lighting up the tunnel roof so it looks brighter. We will probably do that next time 👍
@GeorgeRouse2 ай бұрын
Tunnels are stressful even when there aren't any boats coming the other way. Sorry to hear you're going to call it a day with the vlogs but I understand completely. Hopefully we'll meet one day. Take care both 😊
@makinganarrowboatwithnannyandgАй бұрын
Cheers George, Yes we think it is time to call it a day. We still have the rest of the summers footage and still some of the build footage (but i can't find it at the moment as it is on one of the hard drives on the boat) but after that we may put one on once a year or something like that to show some best bits and how we are getting on. 👍

Well I certainly haven't got bored. Enjoyed all of your filming. If you get o Rickmansworth you wont be far away from Stuart. Have fond memories of Braunston. Stuart's junior school had a trip there, there is a Canal Museum. Getting back to Rickmansworth, every year there is a huge narrow boat festival, not sure why time of year it is. Anyway have fun Jean x

It must be great living off of the fruits of your labour, the hard work was well worth it wasn't it? Suprised that you're allowed to register two boats with the same name. Stopping for that swing bridge you could moored alongside any of those other boats for one of you to have got off.
