In this one I share what I've been up to for the past 2 weeks delivering flaky bars and oily bars.

Yes, Red Kites, I could watch them all day. First started seeing them in the 90s around Stokenchurch cutting M40. Now you find Buzzards north of Banbury and Red Kites south. Great channel, miss my time (30 years) on the artic, keep up the good work.👍

Hi Hayley, I started a permanent job with Perry's Recycling 2 weeks ago, on a bin lorry collecting paper and cardboard in 1100l wheelie bins with as a drivers mate, sometimes I'm driving and I have a mate that knows the round and sometimes I'm the mate sitting in the passenger seat 😎 all good experience though and everyone is very helpful

last year, on my 60th birthday I decided I was going to do what I have always wanted to do and re-train as an HGV driver. I have class two now and am doing multi-drop on a 26 tonner in urban areas, very tight, every drop. Cant wait until I get out on the motorways, I have class one coming up before the end of the year.

The Red Kites were part of a successful breeding programme in the Marlow area in the late 1980's. Since then they have gone from strength to strength and migrated along the M4O as far as Banbury and one day who knows may get as far as the Burton Dasset hills and Gaydon . Listening to you talking about the various metal bars took me back to my time working out of Oldbury, now a "Toys am We' store, pork and stuffing batches, Worcester sauce on chips and pints of Bathams bitter. Nice and bright at 05:00 hours, lovely time in the summer 😀, good point on the banding, the crimps can fail. Ref "Bright Bar" ( oily bar), it was originally rusty bar, bright bar is pickled to remove the mill scale, then fed through forming rolls to dimensionally change the size, improve the accuracy, oil is used during this process. if you look closely, bright bar has a lightly pockmarked surface, an artefact from the mill scale ( rust). Anyway, great job and Video Hayley , quite a load at 26 Tonnes. Stay safe all and thanks for sharing.

Yes they are Kites, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire are full of them. A few years ago in Gloucestershire someone was releasing them, 20 at a time and they have taken over even to the extent of making Buzzards scarce.

Hi Hayley, have you been working for Aartee? The truck colour looks the same. I’ve been doing a few weeks of agency work for them running out of a yard near Newport doing multi drop customer deliveries of steel stock and have been really enjoying it… best of luck for your next career steps.. Hi Hayley I really thought a science lesson was coming about that giant magnet unloading the steel, but where do you find a science teacher these days? 😉🤣 How on earth do you keep straps clean if the bars are covered in oil? Blue fluid is, indeed, likely windscreen washer fluid. Coolant can be all sorts of different colours depending on type. Unless you have been told otherwise by a fitter, I'd think it best to top up with water and report the situation so that the coolant concentration can be checked.

Unfortunately the birds of prey are probably looking for rats. I have worked nights, and if you are quiet on a break when on a night shift they are pretty common, for the same reasons the crows etc come up to the cabs of recently parked lorries, they are expecting a meal. I have noticed this when on days, especially at Peterborough services, I don't know if the crows are smarter around those parts, but as soon as you get back from the shop, they start to walk over to the driver side door and wait, expecting something to come out of the window! Good luck with the future career choice Hayley, I hope it all works out for you!
