VLOG: Apartment Shopping, American Grocery store +MORE

It's been 1 year since we moved to America, and we're finally ready to start apartment shopping. We're ready to find a place that we can call home. In this video, we'll show you what it's like apartment shopping in America, and we'll also go to a grocery store to see how different it can be from Europe.

In Romania, home ownership is at 96%, 1st in Europe and likely in the world, everyone buys, almost nobody rents. The US i think it's in the mid to high 60s. Anyway, now you'll need scooters too, so you can zip around the building.

That’s super interesting! Is the 96% also including owning the apartment unit in Romania or just stand alone homes? We definitely need scooters 😆 I miss the limes in Cluj…. Now I’ll look into getting a bike 😊

@@sierramarie Yes ofc it includes those and a lot of people live in condos in urban. The US went heavy with suburban and that was a bad idea, lots of negatives resulted from it - cars are mandatory and the focus was only on cars (no sidewalks often enough, weak public transport, same goes for trains and even internal flights are not so great) , huge distances as population density is low, lots of space and money wasted on roads and parking spots (the US has like 8 parking spots per car, in Europe it's less than 1 per car). Even the huge stores and the lack of small retail in many areas are due to the low population density. The bread, the size of refrigerators also as folks don't go to the store every day. Oh and you can also buy electric scooters if you want, if you look for deals or brands that sell for more favorable prices, maybe they start at some 300$. Electric bikes are a bunch more though.

See if you have a World Market in the area.....they don't have Romanian food per se......but they have European beverages

In the Midwest- Hyvee. But they have changed on the Southeast, now we are trying to find a new one!

@@sierramarie oh cool, is it more expensive than your usual supermarkets? here in RO we have mega image and profi which are the most expensive, the cheapest being penny and kaufland i think

Yes it is a little more expensive because it has all the organic options & stuff like that- in Cluj mega image was my go to! It’s super interesting because the farmers markets in Romania are more affordable than the stores, but in the US it’s the opposite 🤔

@@sierramarie yeah they sell it cheap because they have lots of fruits and veggies that they grow on their own and they dont want to throw it away, they even go extreme by selling it half the price only to get rid of their products lol
