I know exactly what you mean about the difference in the sounds of your home environment vs a place like this. I walked around the neighborhood on New Years Day and I was shook by how much quieter it was. No cars on the highway. Just the birds. It felt so good to be in that quieter/calmer air. I bet this is similar.

Philippines is a very poor and underdeveloped country. According to the world bank, 37% of the population still live in slums as of 2020. With a gdp per capita (PPP) of 11420 in 2023, which is only half of the world average of 22226, making it one of the poorest countries in the world. The national dish of the Philippines is called "pagpag." It's made by refrying chicken bones that have been collected from the trash. Since many people in the Philippines are poor and lack education, a lot of them have to find discarded bones in restaurants, refry them, and eat them.

lol pagpag is not our national dish. As Amanda said it’s Adobo. For us in Cebu, it’s lechon.
