My husband and I are in our mid-60’s. We are very comfortable, as we should be at our age. I attribute it to making financial goals from the start of our marriage, and sticking to our goals. We’re careful, not frugal but understanding the harder we worked on the front end, the faster life would provide us financial-peace-of-mind which is worth millions. This has nothing to do with how much money you make but instead on how you manage your money 💕

for the cushion you should totally DIY it! cushions are pretty easy. Since you already have a solid underneath you don't need to repeat plywood again for the cushion. If you make a paper template of the shape you want any foam shop can cut you custom upholstery foam in exactly the right shape. Then just find your fabric and you can either DIY it using fabric glue or sew a basic trapezoid shape sleeve - slide cushion in and hand sew the open side. It will probably save you atleast $200-300 vs getting a custom cushion made.

Ok if you do a square bench seat in that desk area you could totally build little triangle shelves attached to it to house books, plants, or knick knacks in the extra nook space. That would be so cute and have a "built in" effect!

I always install a clothing rod in laundry area to hang items as you go that you may not want to fully dry in the dryer or wrinkle easily if folded. It's also great to hang hand washables. The tension rod could work, hung lower down, of course, if it's strong enough, or hang a traditional rod. I find a rod very useful.

It's hard to be generous when drowning in debt. If every penny is going to payments, there is none left over to be generous. Yes, the first always goes to the church. But beyond the first fruits, being consumer debt free (not including a reasonable house payment) is a must. Take all the payments, add them up. Imagine having that as your disposable income to bless others with in a monthly basis. That is when giving makes a difference.
@nancyk7779 ай бұрын
@@janemuir3546 You can be generous in other ways, I'm sure you do randomly nice things for people or try to be kind to people, even if maybe you're having a hard time, that's being generous too. ❤

Everything from babysitting for someone who's child is running a low grade fever/has chicken pox, and mom needs to go to work because ahe is a teacher and only has 2 personal days, taking a mom to see her child 3 counties away that is dealing with legal issues, taking someone to cancer treatments. I made a cushion for my daughters window seat in her bedroom. I just measured the amount of foam that I needed (about 2” thick dense foam and 2”thick memory foam) and then attached that to plywood. To cover it, I measured the fabric, wrapped it around the foam and used a staple gun to attach it to the bottom of the piece of plywood.

I have a bay window seat that I inherited when we moved here I loved it (one of the selling points for me) but it was old, a bought new foam from a company I gave them the measurements then a wadding to cover the foam which gives it a bit of a softer cushion finish. Glued the foam to the wood base wrapped and stapled the wadding then did a velvet cover stapled on it matched my dining chairs. It was super fun and simple to do I think you could totally do it watch a few KZbinrs do it you’ll be set. Mine is that exact shape and my cushion spreads the whole length which I prefer myself as I have a couple of cushions on either side ❤

Omg, so easy and FUN to make that cushion yourself! I made one for a window area we had in one of our homes. You can buy the foam cushion at most craft stores or if you aren't finding one long enough, just order online. Then I picked out a fabric I loved and cut the foam to the exact shape needed. You can either wrap the fabric around the underneath of that wood table and staple it in OR if you are wanting that wood edge to show, get a thiner wood panel, cut to the shape needed and make that the cushion and then set that on top of the wood table you have there. It sounds more complicated than it is. You can even add cute details if you like. Saved me money and it was a fun project!

One thing you may not have considered is that no matter how carefully you are and how you plan, things arise, and truly throw a wrench into the mix. You two are so far head of the game which is terrific, but may I offer a suggestion and have a column for contingencies (unexpected by urgent). It is a protection against what "could" happen.
