If the solemnization of holy matrimony is done in a licensed church, there will be no need for a court wedding (civil ceremony). The marriage certificate issued by the licensed court is valid, and the couple is usually told to drop a couple off at the registry or register it.

Dimma you should try putting ice in the flower vase before putting your floral arrangements. It helps it stay fresh and last longer.

Dimma, for the marriage certificate yeah: Some ‘Big’ Churches get verification from the court to be able to issue these certificates when you marry in their church (e.g some Presbyterian, Methodist, Anglican branches. These are churches I know of. There could be more). So for eg if you get married in a Church that has verification from the court, you just pay a fee and after your white wedding, you get a certificate that is admissible in court.

That is true and she is Catholic so they will have her sign at her white wedding, so she does not have to worry about court wedding

Yeah, that used to happen..I got mine from the Catholic Church on my wedding day without stepping a foot into the court , but I think it has been stopped by the government(not so sure tho).one must actually go to court, even if there is no court wedding rites, the court must be notified and one will do all those notice period, before they issue you one ...was telling a friend how I got mine but she said they were given a note by the Catholic church they wedded at recently to go pick up the court certificate from court.

The bride price was never meant to be buying the bride, no matter how much the groom pays!!! In ancient Igboland, women were actually sent back to the families when they died for a lasting rest, inspite of the bride price because the woman was meant to be LOANED to live wirh and have children for the husband. In some Igbo communities at the event of a divorce, each child born to the man is subtracted to the amount of bride price given back to the man.In some Igbo communities, the wine carrying is the most expensive, not even the bride price because of the things the groom provides for the entire kins men of the bride. There are also other rights included in traditional Igbo marriage that are not done today because brides and grooms live and work away from the ancestral home in this era and marriage is mostly not by recommendation,people do not do those ones anymore.

In case no one mentioned it, Ime Ego is "ceremonial" in many families now. Meaning (as you said) they don't accept big items now, but to maintain tradition, the groom's family gives a small token.
