One thing I didn't take into consideration was fabric selection with cats. Any woven fabric is very challenging if they enjoy a good scratch! We ended up having to reupholster a view pieces of furniture!

I know it’s not the fashion right now but I love my thick squashy carpet in the bedrooms. So cosy and warm. A lot of my friends live in Victorian houses with wooden floors and it’s freezing in the winter 🥶. I always think, you never see a luxury hotel that has bare wooden floors in the bedrooms.

A storage ottoman or bench is super easy to build. You can choose the wood, the height, the paint color, add legs or not, maybe add a bit of cedar lining for storing knits over summer, then splurge on a custom cushion with a piped edge made by an upholsterer in the fabric of your choice.

If the Ingo Maurer is too big, maybe go with Le Klint model 1-60? I think its the largest. We have it over our dining table, and the light is very comfortable, and the screen is very clever thought out. Charlotte Le Klint was a female lighting designer nerd, who dsigned it originally. Kaare Klint designed the Fruit Light - or Le Klint Model 101. This one is good for hallways etc. I think. Compared to Ingo Maurer Le Klint are all cheaper. They look simple online but in real life they are beautiful. Also they were developed over many years, and not in a fast-fashion like most interior design is today. Sorry for this loooong text, im an architect myself, so a bit of a nerd maybe.

she mentioned them having leather soles and leather soles typically wear down quick and require a sole adding for life of wear to begin… no matter the price tag of the shoe itself. leather soles are for resoles. i’ve got a pair of the row loafers without leather soles and they are 4 years old and look amazing.. i then have leather sole loafers from gh bass which now require a new sole after 3 year.. frustrating but reality if you want longevity

After I completely destroyed my GH Bass (really), I had my cobler out in rubber soles instead which I hope will extend the lifeline x2! They’re completely unnoticeable- it looks like the original leather soles from the sides
