I used to have a lot of issues with my stomach and honestly I've cut alcohol out of my diet and I don't have problems anymore! I know everyone's body is different but try not drinking for a week or two and see how you feel!

Hello :) Stress is definitely a big part of IBS and then the problem is compounded by the fact that you worry about being in public and having to go which stresses you out even more! Not fun. I have found that peppermint is a huge life savor for me. I use Altoids and it really helps calm things down. If I know I am going to be in a stressful environment, I have a few Altoids ahead of time. It really is about the peppermint so whatever you can find that has peppermint in it would help. Hii, I also have ibs...I've been strugling with it for about a year now, also caused by stress and anxiety. I'm so glad you spoke about this because it is a huge problem wich can't be understand by everyone. The constant fear of eating something and not knowing if it will mess up your stomach or not, or if you'll wake up in endless pain or with a balanced gut. It's like a russian roulette. I would love to know how you cope with the mental part of this and what kind of diet you're following, and most importantly, how you deal with cravings especially now. Hope you're well and healthy now!!!! Xx

My IBS started two years ago when I was studying in the UK. I mainly suffer from bloating and pain .But still is super inconvenient I cannot even wear my clothes most of the times. Last month i had a very stressful time so I faced more issues and I went to see my doctor again. Right now I’m taking pandium for my stomach and duspatalin for IBS. I live in Greece though and I don’t know if you can find them in the US. Anyway IBS sucks and it sooo difficult to live “normal “ most of the time. Try working out or walking and do things that relaxing you. Also I think that it is very bad for your health to take immodium so often it is supposed to be used only in emergency situations you can try natural things such as eating bananas or drinking black tea or even try to eat plain rice. Hope we get rid IBS soon 💪🏻

I totally understand the ibs struggles. Luckily I seem to have grown out of it at 21, but I had dealt with it from elementary through high school. The body is so weird but kudos to you for being proactive

I understand how eliminating food is really hard. I haven’t eat meat for 10 years. When I try to eliminate food, there is basically nothing to eat🥺Now, I just don’t consume dairy and have gluten on occasion. The flare ups are the villain. You never know when you going to have them.

I have similar issues with IBS as well. Along with mine I get nausea. And as you said, it’s all triggered by stress and anxiety for me. I’ve been seeing a therapist and I’ve been learning strategies to mentally help the somatic symptoms because I don’t agree with the medication personally. So maybe try seeing a therapist! I hope it gets better for you 💜

Something about the triggers with ibs. I had it really bad at one point and it’s really hard to pinpoint what’s triggering it. Things that helped me is I tried to stop drinking coffee ( i switched to drinking teas instead ) , also this is kind of random but miso soup has been really good in my diet :))

Thank you for sharing your progress about your IBS symptoms. I was diagnosed two years ago and I’ve recently been having flare ups. I understand its triggered by stress and mental health, but I can’t help stressing about it. I’m looking to see a doctor who specializes in the disorder and hopefully things will improve.

4:15- the green short skirt- if it’s basically sweatshirt material I saw one in grey at Salv Army yesterday for $2.00. I applaud your choice to shop sustainably and to buy secondhand but Do keep in mind, as with the thrift store, these are USED items and these prices are RIDICULOUS! I was forced to shop Depop and the like during the Lockdown (my thrifting Jones was at full tilt) due to our present PLAGUE but now thrift stores are again open-> PASS. That being said- you’ve got a good eye 👁 Stay Safe and Well 😷🙂😷❗️

Thank you for talking about it, I feel it’s such a hidden illness and I too haven’t found what can help yet, I was diagnosed 6 years ago but in the UK we don’t get offered medicine to help, I’m going to research more into the supplements as I know the FODMAP diet can be very restrictive! My dad's cardiologist actually said Imodium is safe to take as often as you feel. It is safe if you have issues like IBS or medications that make you have IBS symptoms.

I take hyocsamine lol idk how to spell it but the medicine you were showing for my interstitial cystitis. The one I take is the sublingual though and I think it’s a smaller dose and the 6 hour one you were talking about. It’s painful bladder syndrome. It’s for when I have bladder spasms and omg it’s like the worst pain in the world. Hope everything works out for you.

I have ibs too .I’ve been to so many doctors and they all say / give different medicine lol. The main things that works for me is not eating too late before I go to bed, not eating too much oily foods and ginger tablets

I have IBS too! I’ve been taking dicyclomine for a couple years and I notice it helps to prevent a flare up but only sometimes. Other than that I have no idea how to manage it :( . I’ve been thinking about going to a holistic doctor to try something else bc I’m sick of prescription medications

I would experiment with foods! We have been conditioned to think of "healthy" foods as a singular thing. This is far from the case! For example: for some people spinach makes them feel great etc. for myself I feel horrible after I have it. We are all so different! Our bodies are also always changing, and therefore our dietary needs change. I am not sure if you have heard of Low Oxalate foods, but for me, eating that type of diet has done wonders for my fatigue, bloating etc.

Wow! I am a new subscriber and didn’t even know you had ibs and I have it too! So frustrating because I have been tracking my diet for years and I still have no clue what causes it. All I know is that stress makes it worse and tea and coffee make me extra bloated

Do you know if you have ulcerative colits ? Everything you’re experiencing seems like the symptoms I first had. My GI tract got so irritated that it started forming ulcers and now I’m on humira to help the inflammation. I’m not sure what kind of tests you’ve done but you should ask for a colonoscopy if you haven’t (:
