Let's talk BIRTH PLANS! In this VLOG, I discuss my thoughts on what should and should not be part of a birth plan, or what I prefer to call "birth preferences."
.
This is a VLOG I recorded while I was in labor! I had intended an educational video about birth plans/birth preferences, but when I went into labor early, I just recorded my thoughts on the fly! We talk about what you can and canNOT control about birth, and how to state preferences for the things you can control.

Your patients are lucky to have you! You’re exactly what an ob/gyn should be; incredibly intelligent, professional yet warm, respectful of the women you take care of and plain old nice!

You seem like a really upbeat, empathetic OBGYN. I hope I can find someone like you when I finally get pregnant. Your hospital sounds awesome since they don't do interventions unless they're medically necessary (episiotomy, C-section, etc). I had spinal headaches from previous lumbar puncture so I am choosing not to have an epidural and hoping my doctors and nurses can be understanding that I don't want pain relief pushed on me.

All your videos are so helpful and easing some of anxieties and questions, especially for a first time pregnancy. Thank you for making these important educational videos and sharing your experience. What advice do you have on choosing a practitioner once you know you’re pregnant (family doctor, OBGYN, doula etc)?

So excited for you! I’m sure you can’t wait to meet your baby! For future content, can we get a video about vaginismus? I have find there is very little accessible information out there about it.

Could you do a video on different types of birthing positions? I’ve been reading and watching videos on different positions can help reduce tearing and pain?

Why do women refer to themselves as a pregnant "person"? I get it when respecting another person requesting it. But why as a personal reference? Great video. Thank you.

When should I get the epidural ? My hospital recommended it when I’m 3 cm dilated but I don’t want the birth to be a long journey isn’t it better to get the epidural at 6-7cm ?

I’m pregnant w/ my first & have done a lot of research & was told that 6-7 may be too late. What did you end up doing??

i love your videos and all the hard work. I have a question. Did you deliver at the hopistal you work at? If so was it awkward having the people you work with there? thanks Marta

Congratulations! Something you mentioned about unmedicated vs. epidural got me thinking - is there any proof behind one or the other being more beneficial to breastfeeding? I’ve had two unmedicated births and two very very difficult/failed breastfeeding journeys. Hoping for a BF success with #3, and I’d totally be open to an epidural if that could help in any way?

I had two epidural deliveries & 2 failed breastfeeding journeys. My 3rd baby I had unmediated & successfully nursed him for 13 months. Exclusively for the first 6 months. My doctor & lactation consultant said by the 3rd your body (breast) knows better what to do. 🤷‍♀️

*control who is in the room...not when your mom breaks into your delivery and no one stops her! LOL....well, at least she took awesome journalistic, unstaged pictures once baby was out!👍

I’m pregnant do you think I can ask my doctor to have a C section instead of natural birth?

It’s women like this that truly piss me off now why would you want to have a major surgery ?! I was forced into getting a c section and it was the worst experience ever

I don't get why people have these 'plans'. Isn't health most important, rather than wants...? Good luck to all! And wishes of good health!👍

Your opinion is valid. I agree health is more important! But nevertheless, it's wise to plan and not let people do whatever they want to do. For instance, if mother's don't request cord clamp delays, choose who she needs in the delivery room and question her doc about things... she will nt have a good experience after all we plan weddings, birthdays and why not birth? I'm due 12/13/21 and I been planning and of course God has the ultimate plan.

@@traumamom4338 sometimes they tell for everyone in the room to leave, like when administering epidural, then they take advantage. Or if it's night time... I had a doc stick his fingers inside me at 5am and break my waters while my hubby was sleeping...I also didn't know at the time he would do it. He was supposed to check cervix. They are very tricky.

I'm a horribly picky person and I hate doctors. My husband thankfully understands and I'm making a list for him so he know what I want and won't let the idiot doctors screw up or (God forbid) hurt my baby. I'm going to make it clear that he is not allowed to leave the room at any time (which he's okay with) and that nobody can force him to unless I need to be rushed into surgery for something other than a C-section. I'm already a mama tiger over my step kids. Lord have mercy on any person who screws up while I'm high on pregnancy hormones. I don't even wanna be coached on breathing.
That's how money comes into our family
