VLog - The SplaShad part 2

Here you get part 2 of the story about what happened to the Shad master from the movie about making hardwood masters. Or just a walk through of how my process is from having a finished master to a finished bait.

Each vlog you try to improve your stuff your skill and you are doing it sooooooo well. The results are amazing .Really nice to see you in action with your lures ! I prefer har baits but your softs are just amazing !! Splish Splash it'll be a pleasure to show you the results of my "work". However there is maybe a problem. To be able to work on efficient lures i used existing lures as masters. I was affraid of hydrodynamics probs if i tried to make my own lure as first. So i can share them but in private on face book not in public on your face book. Anyway when my work will be really entirelly my own, i'll be sooooo proud to share it all with you :)

I am certain that many luremakers has started on copies or purchased bodies, so don't worry about that. But you shouldn't be afraid to leap into making your own from the bottom. It really isn't that difficult, and fish will often attack anything that looks a bit like food.

Splish Splash Its not about fishes and eventual bites but more for the lure swim and to be as proud of me as i can :) improve now on existing stuff and continue to improve again by doing my own lure when ill be ready to make it really nice and the way i want. But i'll try to follow your advice and try something soon ;) i do already have a big popper in my creations :) but its still a wood prototype without anything more for the moment :) but i'll show you the jerk bait i did yesterday on fb now ;) Edit : 2 pics shared by personnal message on facebook :)

Hi there. The paint used in this video is normal acryllic airbrush paint. I will be fine as long as you coat them afterwards. But there are paints that do not require the coating. However I dont know what is available in Mexico. Try searching for "CAB coating"

Hey Splish Splash, just quick thought, you mentioned about cutting the master replica to mold the thermo stencil. Why won't you just pour half of the silicon mold with resin. Like your video as always. Congrats on nice Essox

In this movie its just ordinary airbrush paint, so you have to handle them with care until thay are coated. Today I would probably use real softbait paint like the stuff from CAB coating or Bright bait

Awesome video! Did you say that for the final coating, you used the same soft plastic, but without color? So the same soft plastic used for the lures works for sealing the paint?

As everyone else has noted, this is another superb pair of videos. But did I miss some footage elsewhere that shows the action of the SplaShad in the water? In other words, don't we need to see how it swims, which I know is the critical element in the lures exceptional effectiveness on pike? And, did a miss other footage where you show how you rig these SplaShads? It seems to me that hook selection and placement---as well as the possible addition of extra weight----are critical not only to their action in the water but also to their ability to hook striking pike consistently. I know: I'm a very demanding viewer. Sorry. Keep up the truly great work.

Check my channel - There is a movie about thermoforming of plastic for stencils. The plastic is called PETG plastic as far as I remember

what is the hardness of silicone do you use?

Кто умеет, тот ловит I usually use 50/50 soft and medium. But I think hardness can vary from brand to brand

Do the tails get bit off a lot?

Green Meanie It varys a lot. The ptototypes was used for 3 trips, while others lost the paddle after 1 or 2 fish. In summertime where the pikes are fast and aggresive it is usually worse than winthertime. Also the hot water makes the softplastic softer. However sometimes softplastic totally outfishes hardbaits, so you really need them in the box
