Jerejef! This type of video along with the repat/ expat videos are what people considering relocating need. This gives a glimpse into the lives of the average Gambian. You provide insight about the culture and everyday life and this is very important. Mansions and beaches are cool, but, it is such a small percentage who can actually afford to live life chilling at the beach and living in mansions. Yes, my family in the rural areas have to keep water in buckets because you never know. Yes, you need to keep candles because outages happen. Lastly, many don’t have a stove or a refrigerator AND freezer so cooking outside and going to the market everyday is the norm. Please keep uploading because its nostalgic for me and conjures up wonderful memories for many of us. Leegi sama xhol sedd lool!

I was only their for a short period but your words confirm the little understanding I have. The thing that really blows me away is even with the high levels of “poverty” I never felt threatened at all. Would rather live where I feel safe than where I don’t despite the downsides.

I'm the one to tell you Jerejeff for this very authentic comment! 😁 All you said is true, and is the reason why I show the raw and unedited version of the Gambia... the Gambia that I know. Hotels and the fancy stuff is not the whole picture - exactly like you said 😄 I appreciate your comment, thank you for acknowledging my efforts !

And Nadeem - I thank you as well! 😁 The realities are there and apparent - we can always improve on many areas. Glad you didn't feel threatened

Hey, Marie, I really love your videos😍!!! Those are called minibusses or taxi's in South Africa. There is no schedule as they are available all the time, lol. They normally travel once the minibus is full in SA, unless it's during awkward hours when customers are not frequent. But buses(big buses) do have a scheduled time & timetable. Keep up the great work!!! The Gambia is beautiful!!!

sister please is there a steady power supply in Gambia? what is the situation of electricity like?
@africandiaries6 ай бұрын
Unfortunately the electricity goes off at times in The Gambia. People tend to have solar panels or generators to provide them with electricity during the time needed. But power outages are not as common as it used to be - so a big improvement there I'd say!
