Hey Julia, so happy you're enjoying your travels!! Just one friendly suggestion, when describing prices please refrain from using words like "cheap". As someone from a country in the "global South", I have seen many influencers using this type of language to describe our prices of food, rent, etc. It is very damaging as it does not expand on the context that foreigners are coming with their foreign money and incomes that are higher than our average salaries, especially for people in our countries that are just making ends meet and may find these prices getting more and more expensive due to tourism/ foreign remote workers. I love your content and don't mean to put you on the spot, just a friendly suggestion to use more inclusive language around prices when you're travelling and to keep it in mind that the prices you find "cheap" may not be for the general population of the country you are visiting.

so I can’t call something pretty if other people find it ugly? I can’t call something bad if other people find it good? Cheap isn’t a diss or an insult. It’s just a discriptor.
@Kleigh8484
@Kleigh8484 9 ай бұрын
@maryem9225 I agree with you on this one. I think we all understand that everyone has different socio-economic backgrounds, even within the same country. For Julia, the prices in Thailand are less than comparative items in canada, and she absolutely should feel free to state this.
@kecrn4132

She is saying it in comparison to what she normally pays back home… it’s not derogatory or anything…. People are too sensitive these days!!!
@KrissyStuff
@KrissyStuff 9 ай бұрын
Saying something is cheap in price is literally an opinion of anyone that says it as it is a view point specific to each individual. By those sensitive standards no one would be able to say something is cheap ever. What’s cheap to one isn’t to another no matter where you’re from. People just want something to pick at these days.
@juliaayers111

When I was talking about the prices I was comparing them to Canadian prices. For example saying something was 1 CAD vs the same item being 3-4 CAD in my home country. This isn't to say this something is cheap or expensive in general to everyone, this is just my experience. Many items were a lot cheaper than in Canada and I also mentioned that many items weren't cheap in comparison to Canadian prices. Cheap is not a bad word in my mind - cheap and expensive are words I use to compare prices of what I am used to without using the actual numbers. It's like saying somewhere is "safe" or "dangerous" ; depending where you come from your perception will be different even if the statistics say something different. I'm sorry if this offended you, it's never my intention

Koh lanta is such an underrated island in Thailand but I’m grateful for it this is such a calm and beautiful island. Also liked that this is a mostly Muslim island as a Muslim myself. People were so nice there overall in Thailand actually. Highly recommend you to go to koh tao ( for a lot of swimming activies) and Chiang mai which is in the north but I’m sure you will 100% like it as it’s very green and nature like. Also in the north you can see many elephants that are free and not mistreated or attached.

Thailand is a beautiful country! Question though: it's obvious that you aren't traveling alone but it seems like you're going for a solo traveler vibe. Why is that?

Glad you’re having a great time in Thailand! Can’t wait for more vlogs. Just fyi, that Vitamilk soymilk is actually not vegan (contains milk powder), they do have vegans ones just look for the yellow Jay sign :D Also, Tay Po curry is the most underrated curry imo, you should try them! ❤Might be harder to find vegan ones in smaller cities though.
