Vlogging on BMPCC4K & BMPCC6K? | My TIPS

Today we are testing the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K for vlogging. Can we use it for this purpose? I will cover some of the issues I found and how I overtake those problems too, like focusing, tilting screen, exposure, audio and stabilisation.

Full 5 stars for your excellent, professionally presented video, Mamo. You used the most basic model of BMCC camera for the video and, yet, it excels for vlogging purposes. The more modern models present a plethora of more advanced tools to make vlogging easier and with better cinematic results. The BMCC 6K pro, for instances, offers built in ND filters, a battery grip for all day long shooting, faster and more accurate focus. Unfortunately, no full articulated back screen but one can rig a smartphone at the top, lnked to the BM app, as a framing monitor. Your wife has a radiant, friendly smile. Your dog, OMG, what a cutie. Thank you, Mamo, for sharing with us your straightforward views on video/photo gear with such a magnetic charisma.

wonder if you used the handle on top of the camera to hold this camera with all the equipment? how was it, is the body of the camera ok?.. 'cos the manual prohibits that - it's not for holding a camera

Hi Mikhail. Thanks for the question. I am not sure what you mean in your message, sorry. Yes, I also use the handle on top to hold the camera better. And I also put a microphone on top of the handle sometimes 😄

@@MamoAir what I mean is - you will most likely break the camera... BMPCC manual says: "1/4-20 Mounting Point You can use the 1/4-20 mounting point on the top of your camera to attach an external microphone or other small accessories. NOTE The 1/4” mount on the top of the Pocket Cinema Camera should only be used for lightweight accessories such as small microphones. Do not support the weight of the camera via the top 1/4” mount by using accessories like a screw in camera handle in conjunction with a heavy lens. This will damage the 1/4” mount which will not be covered under warranty. Do not subject the mount to excessive lever force, such as mounting a heavy accessory on an extension arm. To mount heavier accessories, we strongly recommend using a camera cage designed for the Pocket Cinema Camera that attaches to both the top and bottom 1/4” mount simultaneously."

Oh I see. Thanks for the clarification. I have been using this set up for a while and the camera is still great. But when I mount my full rig, yes, I mount the cage 😉
