I had 4 kids and what we found worked is a weekly nit comb with thick conditioner and a nitty gritty nitty gritty comb (these are amazing). If you find anything, keep combing through and reapplying conditioner and combing through until you don’t find anything. Comb in the bath but rinse comb in the sink as otherwise you are putting the nits in the water and potentially reinfecting. If you find anything, keep combing like this daily until you don’t find anything (this goes for nits and eggs) the move back to the once weekly check. Nits take about 10 days to go from laid eggs to full blown laying nits, so a weekly check should keep on top of them. Also if you find adult nits wash all bedding, towels they’ve used for hair and any coats and clothing they’ve had on as they can crawl back into head if they had temporarily dropped onto their clothing and they will reinfect from bedding. Thankfully you only have to do this if you find a live nit. Wear hair up and we all did a weekly check (grown ups included). My kids only had one proper infestation the first time it happened and then after that we’d do the weekly check and if we found anything do the daily combing for a week, wash bedding etc. they hardly ever had nits and if they did it was only one and it usually didn’t have much time to lay too many eggs. If you want to a visual spot check, nape of the neck, crown of the head and by the ears is where they love to hide. Sorry if that seems like it lot, once you in a rhythm n it’s actually just part of bath time routine once a week and when they got older I taught they, how to do it themselves over time. My daughter has a job working with kids so she still does a weekly nit check :-)😊 hope you get sorted.

You all were so blessed to find such an amazing place. The property is just beautiful and a lovely river running through it, looks deep enough to swim in. You have great plans for the house, it's going to be beautiful. So much enjoyed the episode as always. So happy for you.

When my daughters were young, I found using a good amount of Posner on their hair stopped the nits in their tracks. Posner is a hair product for African Caribbean hair. ❤

Love your land and home. Bea is adorable. Also try bleaching your bed linen because they get in your sheets and you will keep reinfecting. Lots of love

Loving your Devon home!! I remember when my two were young - 1 of mine when she was around Bea's age, we used to joke and say we should by shares in nit treatment as she kept getting them - we treated our heads/hats etc and a few months later they'd be back! As a result I got them for the first time at 30 odd!! I was devastated haha :D

I used coconut oil and smooothered my head and wrap the head in plastic wrap and leave it overnight. The nits can’t breathe.

I had nits when I was young and my mother used vinegar to destroy the eggs, after she’d combed out all the live ones. I never got nits again. Try it. You have to leave the vinegar on for a few hours but it’s worth it.

Buy the chemical stuff from the pharmacy. Then all of the pillows and stuffed animals anything that you are in contact with needs to be put into big black trash bags and treated. I think the soft items need to be treated for two weeks. Then washed and check. Also every time you see any knits or lava you need to make rest you and bee’s hair. The treatments will let you know how long to keep the soft things in big black trash bags.

I'd second this. It's so hard because you have to do every pillow case and soft toy, everything!

Oh bless you Gabby... that must be so frustrating... Funnily enough I thought I'd caught nits from my friends cat.. but apparently they don't stay on humans for long. Turns out I just have dandruff 😜. I suppose it's inevitable if you have little ones at school 🥴. Bea is such a sweetheart and a very lucky girl 😉. Your house is coming on amazingly and Stephen is such a great handy man 👌. The washing would always be my last priority 😜... definitely more to life 🙏. What an fantastic piece of land you have there... a river to yourselves... amazing 👍🥰💖😘

My daughter probably had nits 4-5 times during primary school years, I often got them too, I'd use the chemical nits treatment on me, but because she had various allergies and skin issues I would do the coating her hair in conditioner, sticking her in front of a movie and combing through her hair every second day, this seemed to work but it was a right pain....

Also, use a fine tooth comb after each wash and condition in your own hair to keep the buggers away. I once got them from a train seat. Ugh. And I’ve got very long hair. One of my boys was blond and I thought he’d been playing in dark sand at school. Nope. And he had a mother ship in his hair too about to reproduce. Shudder.

Another lovely episode! Bea is too cute. I agree Tea tree oil really helps, electronic nit comb is fabulous too. Remember to treat your hats , hoods etc too. ( Yup I'm another Mum that's been there, don't get me started on Thread worms either 🙄🤣) World is in a mess right now, but it reassured me that ordinary people are doing extraordinary things. Take care x

Nits are the bane of the junior school years! We eventually gave up on all the natural remedies and used the dreadful chemicals as they were the only thing that worked.
@clareplant447 Жыл бұрын
Top tips I learnt with nits, they are not a fan of teatree oil. Use teatree shampoo and conditioner. The battery operated electric combs are good. Best to keep Bea's hair tied back when at school( nits travel through hair contact, head to head contact). It's all about routine, think nits have a 3 day cycle from laying eggs, to hatching. When you get in from school, use the electric come on her hair, every night wash hair with teatree shampoo and conditioner. Before you rinse off the conditioner use a nit comb and comb through her hair. Unfortunately this will be your routine for a while. Sorry for the long message, just want to help. X

Came to say this about the Tea Tree Oil. 😊
@quiltygal6981 Жыл бұрын
Gabby I know someone said about Tea Tree Oil shampoo etc but also get a spray bottle and everyday before school spray Beas hair with water and Tea Tree oil mixture. Most important, gel it, tie it up high and then plait it. Old hairdressers advice here. The gel will stop them getting a hold on the hair.

after we got ride of them the last time we started to use Fairy Tales lice prevention rosemary repel conditioning spray and we haven't gotten them back since. we spray it every morning. we would get them often I did have to shave my head because of it and we had to buzz our daughters hair to get rid of them. it has been a life saver for us

Amazing land it’s so beautiful. Couple of drops of tea tree oil in your normal shampoo is good to keep them away. I know lots of teachers that do this. I use tea tree oil for everything it’s great 😊

Gosh that is so funny, when Bea was meeting Santa I thought I saw something in her hair. Don’t forget to hoover your bed and behind your bed. Wash bedding at the hottest wash and towels. Good luck. Must be so hard with Steven away. It is heartbreaking to see so many people’s lives in chaos. Seeing those poor children should make everyone involved stop. But as a vlogger I’m not sure you can do very much apart from share your views.But all evil needs to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
