I enjoy watching your vlogmas with my breakfast. I am in Wisconsin in USA. Your day is ending as mine is beginning. The green bestie bag is going to be amazing with the different lining you are using. As far as price on fabric. As beautiful as a fabric maybe, I would need to have a very special project in mind to spend that much, even then, not sure that I would.

Thank you so much, and I'm so happy to keep you company over breakfast! I am excited about the bestie bags - I have received notification that the zips will arrive on Monday, so I am looking forward to doing the next steps then!

Thanks for sharing your day to day with us. Those bestie bags are gorgeous and I can't wait to see them all done. That fabric is WAY too expensive... as commented before, maybe wait for a sale. See you tomorrow 💐

Thank you so much! I actually chose yet another combination of a bestie bag today. 😆 I just love making them so much! Yep, I think you're right - I'm leaving the fabric this time around! There will be other opportunities for beautiful fabric at a price I can better afford.

Ouch! Those prices are quite high. It's hard because yes, they definitely, obviously, have value and I'd rather pay the artist directly but but but so hard!! Good luck! Loving your vlogs
@SoSarahSewedКүн бұрын
Thank you very much! Yes, it would be lovely to support the artist in this way... but it would be a much easier decision if it were $10 a metre cheaper!

Hi Sarah I really enjoy watching your videos - thanks for sharing! Absolutely love your little t-shirts, very cute. Your Miss Moresby fabrics are very expensive possibly because they are printed here in Australia, I too am still waiting for these fabrics from last January, Nerida Hansen blocked my number because I was dissappointed to not receive my orders.......... I too am happy to support Kristen!!

Loved seeing the sights on your walk; it's so beautiful! Your bestie bags are works of art; I love those fabric combinations so much. Regarding the fabric; wow, that is a lot of money. Too much money. :(

I love the fabrics you've chosen to line your bestie bags with Sarah, especially the one with the abstract design. Your walk looked lovely, it's so nice to see the water and the sun. I live in the northern hemisphere so things have got a bit cold and dark here- needed some virtual vitamin D😊 The fabric designer you showed at the end looked gorgeous, but it does seem a bit on the pricey side. Maybe you could wait and see if her collection takes off and then the prices may come down in the future?

Another fantastic video Sarah. Thank you so much for sharing the beautiful weather and scenery on your walk. It is very grey, damp and dull here on the Isle of Man. Your Bestie bags are going to be really lovely. What fun fabric for the Apple Berry Tee. I have made that pattern several times for my grandaughters.

Thank you so much! We have been very spoilt with the weather so far this month... although Monday's forecast is for 40 degrees so that is a bit too hot! It will only last a day, thankfully! I'm so glad you've enjoyed making the Apple Berry Tee - it's such a cute design!

Thank you for sharing that beautiful walk. I think the combinations for both BFBB are fabulous, and the 70s happy print for the tee shirts is joyful. As for the Miss Maude fabric, that's a lot of money, and of course, your budget is your affair. If there is a print you truly love on a base that is to your taste, you could try it to see if the cost is worth it to you. Perhaps a simple top that would allow the print to shine and has lower fabric needs. That way, you could determine whether the base and print quality is worthy purchasing in future drops.
@SoSarahSewedКүн бұрын
Thank you Nicole! While I love some of the fabric designs, I need to be honest with myself in that I already have MANY projects on my to-make list (and fabric for them already) and really should save my money on this occasion!

Hi Sarah, I am so enjoying your vlogs 🥰 I agree, $58 per meter is a lot to pay for fabric. However part of the reason why your garments look so fantastic is your choice of bold and colourful prints. The fabrics you choose hang beautifully and look so distinctive. I have just started to pay a little more for my fabrics (eg linen) and the difference in quality is very evident. My suggestion is that you treat yourself to some expensive fabric every so often - you put a lot of time and skill into each project and it will be worth while. And of course mix it up with cheaper fabrics - for example I find the cotton / linen blends at Spotlight sew up beautifully. 🌸

Thank you for your thoughts, Julie! I have put a lot of thought into it and I think at this point, as I really don't have a need for it at the moment, that I'll leave it... and see what the new year brings!

Love those fabrics but agree with you..those prices are making it hard for home sewers to support them…..at approximately $180 per full length dress it’s a bit steep.

I too used to buy Miss Moresby fabric from Nerida Hansen. I looked at the pre order too and until I know confidently what to make I can’t put anything in that shopping cart. I made the Sagebrush top in the same red Miss Moresby fabric you have used and I didn’t love it. Was my first sage brush top so not sure if it was the top on me or the print was too busy for the top. Has made me re think or overthink how I use pricey fabric though

Yes fabric can be really expensive now and I think it is wrong how they quote the price per half metre. When I first started sewing many years ago it was always quoted on a yard price! Also, I like how you use a lot of Spotlight fabrics which are more reasonably priced for sewing. I do splurge occasionally on the higher end fabrics. Love your videos.
@SoSarahSewedКүн бұрын
Thank you Vicki! Yes, I think if I had a special occasion / event in mind to use the fabric I might go ahead and splurge but as this would really just go into the "stash", I think it's best for me to leave it this time!

Melbourne really does have it all! So gorgeous. I really dig that groovy fabric, dude. Your besties are looking great! I think what I would do about the fabric conundrum is decide which design is my favorite and which garment I would make for a special occasion. It would have to be VERY special for me to pay that much for one outfit. We all make choices about our budgets - if you buy the expensive fabric, what would you sacrifice for it?
@SoSarahSewedКүн бұрын
Good points, thank you Peg. Yeah, I don't really have a reason to buy it apart from thinking it's beautiful, so I think this time around I'll leave it! Maybe I will treat myself for a special occasion in the future.

I purchased some of her poplin at $36.a meter recently and it is divine and so worried about what i decide to make to not waste it. I usually purchase in the sub20 range for cottons so this is a splurge for me, but wow that also makes it feel special. I think i would get one fabric at the $58 if i was inspired. Im trying to move from volume sewing for myself to more quality, as the wardrobe is full full full, but that said we sew because we enjoy spending our time doing it so switching to quality will likely just get exponentially expensive 😂

Beautiful views on your walk. Thanks for taking us along. You are so creative and colorful in choosing the fabrics you work with. Each of your bestie bags is a work of art and the t-shirts are adorable. I can understand your dilemma on the print on demand fabrics. I hate to say it, but I'd skip it at that price and hope that she gets the message that the price point is a bit too steep. It would have to be a very special project indeed for me to pay that much. Then I'd be too nervous to cut into it 😂.
@SoSarahSewedКүн бұрын
Thank you Nancy! I am leaning that direction with the fabric too - I really just can't justify it. I would probably want to make a dress, which would be 3 metres, and it's just too much!

Love your bags and tee shirts. Designer fabric is around £16 - £30 a metre in the UK and would be more for print on demand. Think I would choose one print just buy a top length to go for it to support the designer getting going. I think Dahlia society will be stocking some of her prints in the new year if you want to wait.

Such gorgeous coastal walk! It looks absolute stunning .. I did a quick conversion and I think $58 is about €35 which is steep I agree. It’s a very hard one. If you really love the fabric could you buys some for a special occasion? Or perhaps 1m to make a woven tee to see the quality to see do you want to buy more in future. I just hope there isn’t another “debacle” 😮😮😮

Thank you Rachael! Yes, there are so many beautiful designs and I would love to support her, but the fact is I already have so many fabrics and projects in my queue that it is an unnecessary expense at this time. I'll hope to get some in the future for a special occasion.

I’ve been loving your vlogmas videos and appreciate how much work goes into them. Thank you for sharing your walk! With regards to the fabric: I love supporting an independent artist but that’s a steep price tag and I don’t know if I could pull the trigger on it personally.
@SoSarahSewedКүн бұрын
Thank you so much Erin! Yeah, I really think without a special occasion / project in mind, it is an unnecessary expense that I can't justify at the moment!

Love the fabric combos for the bags and the fabric choice for the t-shirts! The Miss Mosley pricing is very high and hard to justify even if the base is good quality (assuming it’s cotton or similar). It’s a shame as the prints look lovely and it would be good to support a small business.
@SoSarahSewedКүн бұрын
Yes, it's a cotton-linen, and I can only assume it will be a high quality fabric, but you're right - it's a bit much. I think if it were $10 cheaper a metre I probably would have gone ahead with it to support her, but without a project in mind, I really can't justify it.

Beautiful scenery on your vlog today Sarah. The fabric is gorgeous but the price is not. Wonder if you could find something just as beautiful when tessuti have their after Christmas sale. Funny (well not so funny) you mentioned NH…I’m waiting for an outcome to my PayPal dispute I lodged this week. I feel like walking across the bridge to her new shop and asking for my money 🌸

@SoSarahSewedКүн бұрын
Thank you! Yes, I think I will leave it this time. I actually have a voucher to a different store, plus $40 in paypal credit from a Nerida Hansen refund, so I could combine those and treat myself to something else instead! There are so many beautiful fabrics around.
@Rkh8812 күн бұрын
Personally, that price is something I could not justify in my own budget. I would say, choose the option you would regret less. For me, I would regret the cost more than the fabric.
@SoSarahSewedКүн бұрын
I think you're right - I really can't justify it and every other month something seems to go wrong in my home - right now it's the back decking! - so spending on unnecessary (but beautiful!) fabric would not be in my best interests at the moment!
@Kiltsnquilts2 күн бұрын
After hearing how much the Nerida Hansen fabrics were I’m not really surprised her business collapsed - surely she wouldn’t have been making enough to pay her artists?! I think that was part of the problems. However, I agree with you that $58pm is quite high and a big jump. I would say that the fact you are questioning yourself might mean you should wait? I fell in love with a Merchant & Mills linen (Balmy Eve) and resisted because it was a similar price….fast forward a few years and I treated myself on an impulse while visiting a fabric store and it was now $72pm! I bought one metre to make a top but every time I wear it I feel a bit sick haha and have some regrets. At the end of the day, it’s your money to spend how you like. If you really love it and you know you will wear it then why not. You work hard and don’t need anyone’s permission to buy nice things ☺️😉
@SoSarahSewedКүн бұрын
Oh gosh, that regret over the fabric is not what you want, is it?! I agree with you - I don't have a project in mind so at this time, I think it's best to admire from afar and maybe purchase another time for a special occasion.
@bravelittlebuckarooКүн бұрын
$58 a metre. Yikes! I must confess that I love a fancy fabric and I can justify spending way too much if I really really want something, but that seems excessive even by my (occasionally extravagant) standards. I mean, even the fancier imported brands are running in the low $40s at most independent Aussie shops these days. It's tempting, they're beautiful, but yikes! I did see that Kristen at The Dahlia Sewciety is planning to stock some Miss Moresby prints in the new year. You might not have as much choice in the designs or substrates, but maybe the retailers will have better price points. Let us know what you decide!💙
@bravelittlebuckarooКүн бұрын
I did just see that all the way at the bottom of the page there are two cotton poplin options for $37/m. If you like either of those it might be a way to scratch the itch without breaking the bank.

Yes I was quite surprised by the cost - I wonder how the sales are going! I so wanted to support her but I feel it's just a little beyond my means and I don't have a purpose for the fabric at the moment anyway.

I've spent the last two days sewing children clothes for gifts. I'm delighted with them. Occasionally I will spend top dollar bucks on fabric, especially if I love it and I know its supporting a small time artist. Those pieces I've made from those fabrics are some of my treasured favourites. If we support Miss Morsbey collectively while she starts out, it will allow her to hopefully bring the price down some in the future through the buying power of supply and demand. I'm actually one of those idiots still waiting on a Nerida Hansen order hahaha I have my fingers, toes and eyes crossed I'll see them in this lifetime hahaha.

Yes, I understand what you mean and would so love to support the Miss Moresby endeavour! It is so hard. I think I will wait until the new year and see what Kristen at the Dahlia Sewciety stocks from her instead.
