Our local quilt shop closed! There are many who still miss it! The management and staff, the classes and the quality products can’t be replaced by online shopping or the big box store. The independent shop, the other creative people and most of all the encouragement are priceless. If any of you still have the opportunity to “shop local”, you can contribute to the growth of quilting and the experiences of the next generation.

When I was in fourth grade, my mom 'hired' one of her dear friends to teach me how to sew. Thus began a lifelong love of sewing for me that led to all kinds of projects, including eventually making my own wedding dress and the dresses of my bridesmaids. 😊 Now, I've developed a passion for quilting and am looking forward to teaching my own daughter how to sew! ❤ PS - I love Kim's shirt! Also, I bet I'd feel so much more relaxed if my life automatically had a soundtrack like the one playing during the tour of the Beehive. 🥰

It’s wonderful that both of you recognize there is value in letting students have creative freedom. There are so many people in my life that have had their creativity crushed because an instructor told them they MUST follow the rules or that what they made wasn’t what was required.

That’s always heartbreaking!

Another great interview! We have a craft/fabric shop that started as a ceramics shop. People would ask if they'd carry this or that, and shes done just that. The owner is newer to our area but very community driven. She had had people teach different types of classes in her shop. I even took a quilt class with my daughter in law there once. In February or so, I should be teaching a jellyroll race class. I've already taught a pillowcase class...2 people lol. I learned to sew at age 8 or 9 and took many years of clothing and crafts in 4-H. This episode resonates worh me, so much ❤

Amy can we get the name of the quilts down the hall on the left hand side of the hall? I loved a couple of them and would love to have pattern names and a good photo of them.
