Beautiful dress today. Lovely question today. My first memory of sewing was my mum Sewing away in our living room and me trying to make clothes for my dolls with the scraps. I have a picture of my mum in my sewing room watching over me.

Cara, I am a huge fan. Always look for you on KZbin. Wanted to share my earliest memory of sewing. I was in ninth grade home economics class and sewed up a cotton ditzy print empire dress. I wore it all the time and a rumor spread in school that I was pregnant!!! What a riot! Sewed off and on thru school. Picked it up again about six years ago and am loving it. Happy holidays!

What a great question. My mother and both grandmothers sewed and I was always around sewing growing up. My maternal grandmother cared for her mother-in-law, my great grandmother who was very elderly. I remember my grandmother sewing on her mother in law’s treadle Singer machine with me, around 3 or 4 asking her tons of questions about the machine that was so different than my mom’s 1950’s Singer. Some 60 years later, I now have both machines. My very handy husband, who is a machinist, has cleaned up and oiled the treadle (after consulting KZbin!) and I can sew on it. He appreciates very much all my vintage machines and how well made they are.

Oh that’s so wonderful. I reckon you’d be able to sense their presence. Just to know they’ve been there is just so magical. I’m super jealous ❤️

Good morning Cara! Bag making can be so satisfying. I use it as a palate cleanser between harder garments. I've made loads as re-usable gift bags for Christmas, wine and birthdays. If I may, since your gorgeous bags are on the larger size and it sounds like Molly and Robi may have a bit of weight in them, I would add about a 1" box with an X inside on each strap where they meet the top of the bag. This will help secure them better. You'd be surprised how fast weight can stress the attachment points. I just love the look of the cord as the outer material. I've never seen the I la la love you tag. I just la la love it! Haha

Hi Rita that’s great advice thank you ❤️ they’ve gone off to London with them, fingers crossed they’ll be ok. I did go over it 3 times but you’re right a box would have been better. I can see more bag making in my future for sure! I meant to respond to your message yesterday. Ah I see, blue uniform. That’s amazing. What a fascinating life you lead xx

Here’s a question Cara….. how did you discover Maison Fauve, or did they discover you?! Either way, I’m glad you introduced me to this company

I love the bag. Sweet story about your sewing beginning. I sure you learned a lot about the mechanics of the machine and that’s great also. Question type of fabric outer and inside was used? It looks textured
@sosewmadАй бұрын
Hi thank you for your message, the outer fabric is very soft cord and the inner is an acetate lining x
@lindaconn5781Ай бұрын
Just wondering if you could have sewn the pockets before you seamed the bag and lining?
@sosewmadАй бұрын
Hi yes I did on the outer pocket and the 2nd bag but the first one I fitted it afterwards as we hadn’t thought of it before 😅❤️

Morning Cara... A question for your advent box... Do you have any travel plans for abroad next year and if so has fabric buying influenced your decision/destination? A few years ago I chose Morocco because ultimately I wanted to buy inexpensive 'exotic' fabric... 😂
