Vlogmas Day 8 - Volunteering Wonderfulness!

So today I ramble about people I've met volunteering at my local hospital which have been so wonderful and have made me realise how valuable volunteering is! Thank you so much for watching :D

Yes volunteering is great!! Awhile back I volunteered at an Assisted Living center (a place for old people) with my friends to sing christmas carols for the residents. One of them hadn't had any visitors come see them in a long time and our songs seemed to really cheer her up. It's just so nice to make people smile :)

+ReadHeadPat That's so very true and that sounds so wonderful! Christmas, much like any other time though some would think more so, is a time where people who would otherwise be alone should be remembered. It's definitely a time to make people smile :D Thank you for watching!

We often make a difference in ways we never expect, even when they are small. Even when you smile and have small talk with people, it really can provide so much insight and kindness. Knowing people's names shows we care and listen. I don't volunteer in clinical settings but I have done some charity work for nursing homes and even singing too!

Most definitely! It just never fails to blow my mind how much small things can mean. I was so taken aback when the first lady said 'thank you Zainab'. You don't always realise the kindness you can exhibit with small things until it happens out of turn. That sounds awesome! I bet lots of people enjoyed the singing :D Nursing homes like hospitals are good because not everyone gets visitors so it's always nice to remind people they are remembered. Yay for volunteering! :D It's awesome that you make the lives of people better :) And yeah, it feels really good when you can see the impact you have :) In middle school some students always went to a children's hospital once a week and help the kids there (all of them long term patients) pass the time for an afternoon. I'm not much of a people person, even less children (even though I still was one myself at the time ha) but I went quite a lot, just great to see how happy some of them were to have someone to play with :) Also yum, donuts! :D

+KarolaTea It is always so awesome to know that we all have that power :D That sounds like such a rewarding experience and it's amazing how much that time can mean to them for sure. I've gotten better with kids but I think I'm not at the stage where I'm trying to understand them and not just assume they're deliberately trying to annoy me. They're kids after all aha. I don't remember all too much about being a kid though I would love to. Douuuuughnuts!
