Hi Ruan, I have the same Juki DX7 sewing machine and I LOVE it. I feel the same way you do about button holes I love doing them because the machine makes it so easy. I bought a cover stitch years ago and I barely use it but it is nice when you are hemming knit garments and if you do athletic ware.

Just started sewing again after 40 years! Bought a basic brother, then splashed out on a basic overlocker. Made my first knit today, a Freya, but chickened out and used maraflex on my sewing machine!

Hi Ruan, I really love and use my Baby Lock Euphoria Cover stitch machine. It is fabulous for hems on knits. I also use it for decorative finishes on the seams. I am certain you would not regret adding a coverstich machine to your sewing room. Not sure if the Euphoria is the same name in the UK. Check with Babylock.

Seasons of East Spring in London is the top, I made the same one and I love it 😊 I bought an overlocker and surprised myself how much I use it, I couldn't do without it now. I sew with a Husqvarna sapphire 875 as I do a lot of quilting also. Best machine I have ever bought 😁

I have a Bernina L890, combi overlocker/cover stitch machine, a present from hubby, plus a Babylock Acclaim. I know, I am spoilt! I sew both knits and wovens and use the cover stitch option a lot. Loving your vlogmas

As I see it, an coverstitch is a nice-to-have, not a need-to-have. That said, I love mine. I love how easy it is to use and how professional my knit garments look. My machine park is as follows: Pfaff Quilt Expression 710 (best sewing machine I've ever owned!) and a Janome CoverPro 2000CPX. Currently I'm without an overlocker. Santa has nicked it and I suspect he might get me a new one for Christmas :-D

Hi Ruan, I have a coverstitch machine and decided to buy one as I do sew with a lot of knits. I pretty much make all my own t-shirts and also t'husbands (I'm from Yorkshire too). I much prefer the finish it gives over a twin needle, although I've never tried a twin needle in my current sewing machine (Juki DX7 same as yours). I don't think I'd be without one now. It's not actually necessary just a nice to have. Oh and your hair (were you thinking spaniels ears), looked good to me. ☺

I have a Husqvarna Viking Amber Air 600 combo. Haven’t used the cover stitch much yet. I’m going to take some classes after the holidays. Pricey, but love the air threading. T’husband thought I should have it 😊 Happy day 9 Ruan

I’ve got a cover stitch and rarely use it as don’t have room to have it out all the time. Like you I don’t sew many knit garments so it’s a bit of a faff to set it all up just for one thing very occasionally.

Weirdly I'm off garment sewing at the moment. Have made tonnes of accessories but have 2 wips which needs attention!!! I have a cover stitch machine and use it lots. It really elevates the finish! Totally not necessary but nice to have X

Living vlogmas, I had a combination machine but it was way too much of a fact to change over so got rid and bought seperate. I also have the acclaim and I got the basic Babylon coverstich, which works great but it's nice to have not a need to have. Use it one a month tops if I make a jersey project but a twin needle does the same effect

To your question I never own a cover stitch or serger. But two years ago I bought combo machine-cover stitch and serger, I love it. It’s a Hasqvara Amber 600, it has 26 stitches, three of which are cover stitch. I do sew with knits more often than woven.

Ruan, I have the Elna CoverMax Extend. Please do not think it's for the exclusive use on knit's only, I hem my woven casual wear with the cover stitch as well, and off course sleeves as well. Once you have one, the possibilities are endless. It's not too late to add it to your Christmas shopping list.😜

Yes it definitely a Yorkshire thing 😁 My relatives say it all the time. Hubby comes from South Yorkshire and I am a southern lass so the accent is very different and makes them laugh! When I go up north they say hubbys accent has rubbed off on me and it comes out when I am tired or annoyed. Love northerners hence why I married one lol

Great start- LOL with the hair self deprecation 😂😂😂. Cannot get the milk maid out of my head now even though I would never have thought that until you said😂😂😂. Cannot wait to see your dress actually finished. No cover stitch here - only because I can’t afford one and have a holiday or trips to see my baby grandchildren in Ireland but I seem to manage with an Overlocker and Maraflex for my knits ( I have a Bernette B38 sewing machine and a Brother 734ds Overlocker so very basic). Enjoy your precious family time 😊. Lynne

Can’t help with your question re cover stitch machine, I’m still getting to grips with my overlocker but it seems an awful lot of money to splash out if you think you will only use it occasionally. Hope you manage to get the sleeves put in. 😊

… I say Ruan you won’t use your coverstitch , but you will use your coverstitch .. and being a true sewist having all the tools/machines is really nice , I have an Elna easy stitch (same as the Janome 2000 ) and I love her , it’s like any hobby .. do you really need more tools … yaaaasssss you do so I say get one , or I hope someone sponsors you and gives you one .. You are having the same conversation I had with myself about a coverstitch. No, you just won't use it as much. I ultimately decided to buy one knowing I wouldn't use as much and that was ok. I got the Janome cpr2000 (think the letters are correct). It wasn't as expensive as Babylock, which theirs is really nice but more than I need. I am happy with my decision to buy a coverlock and with the Janome 2000. Janome is on 3000(at least) now. Hope that helps.

Hi Ruan! You crack me up with the dog ears but I so get it. Pulling it all up can be severe. So we let a little hang and try to be sexy. But I personally, don't seem to be able to pull it off! We have a 'Deal, no Deal" show in the US as well. It's been running since 2005. Contestants must choose from 26 briefcases containing different sums of money, from 1 cent to one million. The remaining briefcases will be opened one by one while the player receives different offers in cash. Is that what you meant by boxes? I love your Yorkshire accent.
