Yasss. Loving the unapologetic realness. I'm still DCing every week, because I don't re-moisturize, rehydrate, re-nothing all week long. The hydration has to last from wash day to wash day, lbvs. So the most outdated advice, IMO, is there is a right way and a wrong way to care for hair. You care for your own hair the way that best fits you.

Another great and relevant video. One step I don't do anymore is prepoo. My hair is so easy to detangle with conditioner in the shower. It only takes about 10 minutes, with very little shedding.

I always say natural hair can hide a multitude of sin. Blowing your hair out allows you to see how bad your ends really are. I have seen countless people with big beautiful hair, but when the hair was blown out, the ends were horrible. Therefore, I encourage the use of heat for trims. Perhaps, the whole trimming every six weeks comes from the relaxer days. I never understood that either.
@melleciosa3 жыл бұрын
The more days your wash and go "lasts" the better. When I learned you wash your hair every five days, was like a release from the shackles lol washing my hair every five days or so has dramatically cut down on knots and excessive shedding. There is no need to rock day 8 and 9 hair like you win a prize for it.... Also I have too many products and washing every five days gets me through my ridiculous stash
@natural42693 жыл бұрын
I agree. I just started a 5 day wash cycle about two weeks ago. I love it. I also get to use up my stash and I’m less hesitant to try new combos or new products I’ve been holding on to because if I don’t like it, it’s changing in 5 days anyway.
@tonihayes53303 жыл бұрын
Amen! Need to get rid of soooo many products! And way fewer knots when wash on the regular.
@denyshadials57023 жыл бұрын
Yep. Mine lasts 4-5 regardless of the quality of the products. I like washing my hair that frequently and I prefer to use cheaper products because of that too. I like having hydrated hair and a calm clean scalp.

Well, a month ago I decided longer hair wasn’t for me (so much work 😩) and I shaved it all off. But I still watch all your hair videos as well as your other content. I agree with everything except the deep conditioning. I do it every single time I wash my hair. I don't even have regular conditioner in my stash. It's the best way for me to keep my hair healthy. Otherwise, I agree with everything else 100%. Especially silicones! I use them all the time. I clarify often, so I don't worry about it. 🤷🏿♀️🤷🏿♀️🤷🏿♀️

As far as heat,deep conditioning less is best. Now trimming and piling products without appropriate cleansing is another ball of confusion. The thing some people go overboard is protective styles gone awry. Yes you can wear them braids, twist bantu or dreads BUT if they are so tight that your hair is clinging to your scalp as if to get an unexpected eviction notice*it's too dang tight*! Yes these styles are often protective and help maintain length and save time but doing them the RIGHT way is the only way to reap the benefits. Oh yes one more...stop thinking all diy are going to help improve your hair. Everyone's getting crafty and some of them will help but know your own prescription and stop letting your judgement take a back seat to common sense. Okay I think that wrapped it up for me. Good advice and I am more the wiser to be bestowed with such. 😊

That depends on the person. My daughter keeps her hair flat ironed 80% of the time and her hair is a little past her butt cheeks. I keep my hair flat ironed all of the time and since I started keeping my hair in a stretched state, it has grown to mid back where I keep it cut because that's a good length for me. My hair did not start to thrive until I stopped letting it tangle up doing curly styles.

Well this is advice from Cathy Howse who was was the first hair guru that I followed. She said you never have to trim your hair because dead ends don’t split all the way to the root. Although that is true your ends will continue to stay ragged and does not help with length retention. So yes you should trim.
@PreppyFay123 жыл бұрын
I enjoy modified silicones in one of my favorite stylers! I prefer using products though that are water soluble or modified oils/silicones/butters to be soluble in water so it’s easier to wash out with a gentler cleanser on wash day. I don’t like using harsh shampoos too often because they can cause unnecessary damage to my hair overtime.

Say what you will, but after 40 years of flat irons I stopped in 2020...my hair, has grown in an amazing way. Yes I trim every weeks or so, because I easily had about 6 inches of heat damage that would not curl, despite having gone natural in 2012. I agree with ALove4Me, no need to overdo products or processes, BUT know what works for YOU. I didn't want to do a big chop so trimming and no heat tools has been a big plus for me. All the best y'all!

I don't think most people feel silicones are "bad". But I don't feel I can go as long without shampoo when I use them. Everyone's regimen, hair, and preferences vary. I don't ever see anyone saying they deep condition multiple times a week. Who has the time? Lol also unpopular opinion maybe....? Prepoo is not necessary. I never do that. My hair is fine.

I agree about silicones but I just think that it’s important to know that you want to be careful with how often you’re rotating them into your routine. The reality is that you have to clarify to get them out and if your hair is otherwise not dirty over clarifying your hair means over cleansing and drying out your hair from the inside. So I definitely agree about silicones but I think that if you wear your hair curly it’s just not something that you want to regularly utilize, especially if your hair is already dehydrated. I think ppl assume a one and done is healthy or unhealthy, but it’s the consistent use and/or how efficient your routine is.
