I belong to a rural traditional Southern Baptist church which, before Covid, averaged about 110 in Sunday School. We haven’t reached that average since. We are a very mission focused church. Just to let you know, we filled 743 Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Child boxes. I think that’s phenomenal!

I watched your give away video & you asked about how we celebrate Christmas. My family has changed over the last several years. Children & Grand Children have grown up and moved away. My Mother passed away last year, my husband & I sold our house & moved to be closure to our daughter & her family. For the last 30 year Christmas has always been at our home. The one think I keep in my heart is Christmas is about things or places it just about our Christ & Savior birth.

When I make the magic cookie bars I layer the ingredients and pour the condensed milk over the top. I always imagined the condensed milk acts like a glue to keep everything in place and not fall off when you eat the bars 😊 I've also been known to add a sprinkle of butterscotch chips in the bars too.

This brinhs back so many memories for me. I used to work 50 hrs s week outside my home. Then about 2 wks before Christmas I would start doing what you do! I would be so tired when I finished every night. At Christmas both my work place and Tom's would enjoy platters of sweets, dips, crock pots full of things like little smokey sausages in bar-be-que sauce. Home smoked salmon from salmon we caught that fall. I also made sure each of my neighbors were given a large platter as well as the nursing home were my husband's mother was being cared for. Times change as well as countries and cultures! I also am pre-diabetic now! I stay on a very strict eating plan. Plus I am alone. I have those memories. While I am watching you, they all come flooding back! Thank you so much! I love your channel and both of you have become two of my favorite people! Merry Christmas!

I make them completely different. I combine the butter and graham crackers crumbs and put them in the pan and pat down the crust. Then I top that with sweetened condensed milk. In a separate bowl, I combine the chocolate chips, pecans, and coconut. Then I spread that over the sweetened condensed milk and bake. I think it's great how one recipe can be made in so many different ways. Thank you for another wonderful video!

I don’t know if you’re gonna see this before you make your divinity but I do have a few pointers for you. #1, Divinity will come out better on a sunny day - it is effected by the barometric pressure. #2, make sure your egg whites are room temperature, this is a must. And #3, prepare to beat the whites after you’ve added your syrup for quite a while until they lose their glossy appearance. You can do this. Merry Christmas..

I think my mom, being a child raised a lot of worldly goods, was always so frugal about getting ever scrap out of cans, bowls, etc. That is how I was taught. I get so frustrated watching cooking videos where they don’t scrape! Loved watching you if only for that reason.

I noticed your kitchen aid mixer leaves untouched crumbs in the bottom of the bowl too. Mine does. That design issue should be addressed. Sometimes it’s very annoying to find unmixed ingredients in the bottom of the bowl. It is a persistent issue.

The mixer can be adjusted to lightly touch the bottom so that's not a problem. Took me a good many yrs to figure that out.

This brought back memories of the trips my parents and I made together when I was young. Stucky's Restaurants and See's Candy were a must stop for us. My parents always bought the pecan log rolls. I just made a big batch of pumpkin fudge and a big batch of Rocky Road fudge with milk chocolate, now I'm getting ready to make more rocky road fudge with white chocolate because my son is allergic to anything chocolate except white chocolate. You can put 2 donde sed cans of ilk in a pot with water covering g the cans boil for 3 hours (keeping cans covered) makes carame! Put in pie crust with whipped topping caramel pies so good

Some people are some people aren’t, but you have showed me how to make gravy out of the drippings. I used to throw away now they’re a staple in my house. I’ve mastered it. When I make Magic bars or 7 layer bars , i do melted butter, graham cracker, chocolate chips, coconut, walnuts and the sweetened condensed milk last. Any way they are made they are delicious.

I have been hesitant about making candies; particularly fudge, pralines, etc. so I am anxious to see you make fudge tomorrow. I love your channel and have learned quite a bit from you especially when it comes to anything you make that has a Southern slant to it. I am a Northern girl and I've done a lot of cooking in my life. My husband and I raised 5 children and we have 11 grandchildren. I am 75 years old so I'm not a newcomer in the kitchen but I was surprised to find that there is a difference in the styles of cooking depending on where you live. I would like to enter the drawing for the giveaway but we have church tomorrow evening and I didn't want to wait until the last day to enter. It's hard to decide on my favorite part of watching your blog but if I have to choose it would be when you and Bryant share your faith in Jesus and then you live it! Of course I get a lot out of your cooking demonstrations as I already mentioned. I also like couch time and how you share your family like with us; not to mention you taking us with you shopping, vacation, church services and functions and I could go on and on. I am blessed each and every time I watch so thank you for all you do and all your are. You reflect Jesus and that's what I like the very most.

I’ve been making my cookie dough, scooping them into balls-freezing them on wax paper on a sheet overnight, then putting them in a bag. Doing the same with my sausage balls! I’ve also baked my bar cookies, vacuum sealed them just enough to get the air out & froze them. My peppermint bark & almond bark I did the same way but kept it in the fridge. Can’t stop nibbling on the peppermint bark. Didn’t waste a sealing bag with that. 😂

I made a vegan version of the magic bars by using margarine instead of butter, sweetened condensed coconut milk and vegan chocolate chips. All other ingredients were the same. It was delicious! Such a versatile recipe!

Oh sweet girl, you mentioned not feeling like you did very much, I used to say the same thing. Now, I am fortunate to get one thing done a day! I got my hard salami mixed up yesterday (it bakes on the third day). I mixed up a batch of cookies & got the logs into the refrigerator today. That's it. I wanted to do 3 or 4 batches of peanut brittle & a couple of logs of peanut butter rolls too but my body is laughing hysterically at me. It's back to it's normal position...it has a permanent relationship with my chair. Personally I wish they would get a divorce! 😆

@@susananderson9619 Yes, the arthritis has caused bone spurs all over, osteoporosis and breaks & all along with it. I'm so blessed to have lost a ton of weight (300 lbs) back in 2008 or I hate to think of the shape I would be in...likely not mobile at all. It can get overwhelming to have to use a walker & be as limited as I am but that's when I need to start thanking God for all He has done for me. It helps reset the attitude! It is hard to get our intentions and will to line up with the changes in our abilities isn't it?
