Hi Liz and Austin yet again! As Storm Bert batters parts of the UK, I am wearing my "Neurodivergence is my Superpower" t shirt that my husband bought for me. He also got me one that states "I drink coffee, I knit and I know stuff". Both of these things are true!!! I think it's important that we embrace our differences as the alternative is a world of people who are never going to move forward. It's the unconventional people who change the world. I'm half way through my Christmas jumper which is a Drops design called 'Snow Maiden' in red (main) and white. That cardigan is SO pretty! It would be lovely in a very soft, dusky pink too although that soft green is very easy on the eye. I haven't done that smocking stitch so I might well give it a try. When the festive madness is over, could you consider a focused episode on budget vs luxury yarns? I tend towards the budget yarns except for very special knits or items for babies. I knit a lot for a charity that sends garments to the Ukraine and I want the garments to be durable, washable and low allergen. The hand dyed yarns are so pretty but are they always worth the cost? Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. Obviously, it's not a 'thing' here although we have a nice meal of duck (we don't care for turkey) and pecan pie. I'm sure it will be lively madness with the children around. Gobble gobble gobble!

@@jayeclements6452 be safe during that storm!! Totally agree with your comments about embracing differences. I do believe my diagnoses have given me quite a gift and for that I am very grateful. It is the unconventional people who change the world!! I recommend checking out Stefania’s “Smoke the Sweater” as well if you’re looking to try smocking stitch! I have a light pink one on the needles right now :) Same thing, just sweater version. Lilibet (I’m testing this now) is the child’s version of this as well! Stefania has really put out a beautiful series featuring that stitch! I would be happy to do an episode like this! It’s such a hard answer, and I think it depends on the individual. I think budget yarns are absolutely wonderful and use them often! I also think handdyed yarns give a unique experience as far as variegated/speckled yarns. Even yarns with just a highlight of dimension in them. The litlg skeins in this episode are a good example. I think I would buy budget as far as solid yarns - I really enjoy drops yarns for quality fiber at a great price. I enjoy supporting small businesses and families, so that plays into what I buy. When Austin was unemployed I only bought budget, and when we have spare funds I like to spend it on handdyed. The handdyed almost always gives me warm fuzzies when I work with it when the colors change or when I hit a patch of speckles, and I don’t see that as much with commercial. Kids I almost always use budget since they are not at all gentle, and have only used Lion brand mandala (acrylic DK) for their baby blankets, as it’s washed so well and had kept its integrity. Enjoy your duck dinner!! This will be the first thanksgiving we won’t be alone in 4 years, so I am so grateful and excited about it! Will be making lots of food! Enjoy your weekend! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
