So interesting what you have reflected on regarding your dislike for the look of the fit of dropped shoulders on yourself. I find the seam of the shoulder to the sleeve just bothers me so much that I can’t get over it. First I thought it was just my lack of skill, but recently I’ve been noticing that even on the designer’s photos, I dislike how chunky and obvious the seam is. So I will just sit out this dropped shoulder trend phase. I love the look of a set in sleeve and a raglan. Not sure about the circular yokes on myself - you got me thinking…. Maybe because I have a narrow shoulder frame I feel they make me look incredibly flat. Thank you for your insight! Lovely knits!! And enjoy the concert!

Totally valid! Each sweater construction has its pros and cons and some are better suited for some people than others :) Hopefully you find better luck with some of the other constructions that are around but as long as you find what works for you that's all that matters!! :)

100% agree about 12” circs for sleeves. I use fixed Addi circs because I just love those.

I can’t believe I never considered 12” circulars before thins! Haha I’ve heard amazing things about the addi circulars! :) I’m so glad you love them!

i just started my halibut too!! im using berroco vintage dk in a white for the mc and a tonal blue malabrigo arroyo for the fish. this is my first stranded colorwork and it's been so much fun! i'm planning on taking out 9 rows of the colorwork and immediately split for sleeves after - hopefully this will work out as i'm not very tall

Oooh that sounds beautiful and the berroco vintage DK is a lovely yarn to work with!! 💛 I’ve seen som Ravelry pages about splitting for sleeves early being really successful so I’m wishing you all the best with that! I would love to see the finished object when you complete it ❤️❤️

mini chiagoo pack especially the blue one is a game changer! I also have the yellow one but the blue one is the best.

I love that you can still wear your childhood sweater, I would say it's the color cobalt. I knit my socks on dpns in tandem and really enjoy that, hope you do as well!
@bymwu9 күн бұрын
I always thought cobalt was a bit darker - but then again I’m horrible with colour names :P so what do I know! Haha. I’m so glad that you find that dpns in tandem work for you!
@nancywillick57379 күн бұрын
@bymwu I think cobalt is usually deeper I think but the other color you mentioned has green in it I thought. Could be wrong though😊

Auguste Sweater sounds like what you're looking for for the cable sweater! I've started it a few days ago, pattern is not super clear but if you've done a few raglans you can figure it out.

Oh my! I hadn't heard of this pattern before but it's STUNNING!!! Def something I'll be keeping my eye on :) thank you for the recommendation and best of luck to you on yours :)

You can point a fan directly onto the blocking wreck - this way it drys even faster. The lowest setting works fine.

Ooh this is so smart! :) I'll keep that in mind for thicker knits!

I’m making the eclair raglan by Laura Penrose (omitting the baubles) and I think that fits what you’re looking for!
@bymwu9 күн бұрын
That’s such a beautiful sweater!! Although, I think I’m leaning slightly more towards a set-in-sleeve construction but I’ll def keep this one in mind! Best of luck with your Eclair 💛

the yoke for the halibut sweater should be perfect with size 3. I made mine in size 5 and the halbut are very small for the yoke. I believe size 1-3 are perfect from the pattern

Oh no I’m so sorry to hear that you think that! I’m sure the sweater is beautiful regardless :) Thank you for commenting!

I love 12 in circulars for sleeves. That's the only way I've knit sleeves for years. I hate magic loop and have both of the chiagoo shorties sets.

Yay for finding what works! I’m so glad that. 12 inch circulars work well for you too :)

love your podcast! u could knit the river genser by sandnes garn and just alternate between a stockinett strip and a cable :)

I love your video. Where did you super-wash wool yarns in Canada?
@bymwu9 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it :) You have to go to some more yarn specific stores (vs big craft stores). I’ve had great success with ordering super wash from Wool-Tyme and The Knitting Loft! You just have to check what the material is before you check out :) Good luck!!

I think the Eclair Raglan by Laura Penrose would be a good option for the stripey cable sweater you want to knit. Just omit the bobbles. You could also personalize the cables to your liking if you want something different. .
