We used to make streamers with crepe paper. You cut about 2" off through all the layers, secured one end in the corner of the room and twisted the strip until you reached the opposite corner. Then repeated with the other diagonal. The height of sophistication ( well in those days there wasn't much choice ).

When I was at school, we used to spend the last week of school doing Christmas craft making Christmas cards and decorations (with crepe paper, tinsel and glitter) It was my favourite time of the year. In year 9 at school when I was about 14 we had different end of year classes to choose from and that's what you'd do all day for the last two weeks of term and I decided to join the bear making class and we made an Edwardian Ribbon Bear, mine is called Edward and I still have him. I remember furever friends 😀

Gorgeous Ian, so handsome ❤ and he kept his paw on the bell to be sure the treats kept coming😅 I remember the Tuck shop! My favourite were the potato puffs, we had milk in bottles and I would have extra milk if others in class did not want theirs, still love milk to this day. Lizzie is growing up fast lovely young lady ❤ Hugs Suze. 🐈⬛🥛🥮 xxx

My primary school had a cardboard post box covered in red crêpe paper at Christmas! It was a very small school though; only two classes. We used to have glass bottles of milk with a straw piercing the foil cap (I'm only a year older than you but I'm further south so maybe that's why we had glass bottles and you had paper cartons). I don't remember milkshake or hot chocolate though. Your vlogmas posts are definitely the highlight of my day - especially when you perform with Ian 💚💚💚 I cross stitched some Forever Friends bears and the Country Companions when I was a teenager! I particularly liked Ed Hedgehog 🦔

Yes I remember the copper jug and cups and the smell of the water. Copper has a natural antibiotic and can kill bacteria so it is really good . The glass bottle I used but then I am older but it was lovely. I don't remember chocolate drinks but chocolate custard that I do remember always loved desserts lol.

I think the greetings cards you’re talking about Paula were by Simon Elvin in the 1980’s. I worked on a card stall in an indoor market as a Saturday job and Simon Elvin Country Companion cards plus the bear ones, were all the rage back then! The Andrew Brownsword Forever Friends bears were also really popular too at that time, on cards and as cute cuddly toys. Take care 🎄✨

Lovely listening to you and Lizzie’s chat, jogged some nice memories, I had forgotten all about the school postbox, and the Country Companions cross stitch, I remember doing a sampler type one of them, I’m now wondering if I still have that somewhere - must have a look.

HI Paula - I too love ALL the seasonal foods and treats! I was in London last December visiting family and came home with a suitcase full of British snack foods - they're so much better than what we have here in the US. Give me all the mince pies, Bakewell tarts and custard creams! Wish I had though to look for stollen while we were there - I've actually never had it. We are heading back over in April - what seasonal treats should I look for then 😂? ps - I loved visiting all the stores I've heard you talk about on the podcast like Sainsburys - we also had to hit up Waitrose and Marks and Spencer, great fun.

I'm older than you Paula (62) so I remember free milk (in primary school) in small glass bottles with paper straws. Milk monitors were allowed to carry a very heavy crate of milk bottles into each classroom and everyone was given a bottle of milk and a straw. You got into trouble if you didn't finish your milk...so I used to give my bottle to Gary Peake...he could drink 3 bottles one after another...we could also buy a coconut marshmallow biscuit for a penny. It was a biscuit base with pink marshmallow on the top and sprinkled with coconut...yummy.

In the 50’s-60’s when I was at primary school (Australia) the milk man would deliver large crates of milk in small bottles at school. They never bothered to put it in the shade in summer and by the time it was handed out it was hot and it tasted awful. Thank goodness mum sent them a note to say I couldn’t drink it. I always felt sorry for all the other kids who had too. Your fur bags are lovely with the cutest faces. I was thinking you may be able to make and sell hot water bottle covers using the fur with the same adorable faces. ❤️❤️🌺
