The reason is because the Dr. Martens balsam has some conditioning properties. Regular wax doesn't. If you want a great video, compare some Saphir Renovateur to the Dr. Martens Wonder Balsam. The Renovateur will really help with the wrinkles.

3 years later it's 16 dollars for the Dr Martens! I just bought it and applied it to my Thorogood work boots. They look good now considering how beat up they were. Nice video! Nicely presented!

I’ve made a mistake and applied the wonder balsam on the shoes while there was sand on the the shoes so now I have like a paste of wonder balsam with sand on the shoes, how can I clean and wash away the wonder balsam and the sand from the shoes without damaging? Thanks
