you just saved me a whole lot of work, comparing 2 versions of report on power BI that is pulling from same data point. I extracted into excel into 2 version workbooks then load it back into power BI then compare the discrepancies... It was really helpful

Merging tables would cause a problem for duplicated values to be come in your dataset with there first duplicate value if you are working with units and etc...
