Yeah im not sure about no gasket...surely two surfaces heating and cooling at different rates will move abit, isn't that why the gasket is there? to help with the expantion of metals? hense it being copper? not 100% but surely if it came with a gasket it is there for a reason?
@scootbmx015 жыл бұрын
They didn't come with a gasket from factory

Is it beneficial to do away with the stock heat shielding and go exhaust wrap over the whole manifold and just use a turbo blanket for the rear housing? Or would that be a waste of time? Is the stock heat shielding good enough? I only ask as I really dont like the way it looks and blocks off access to the turbo for maintenance etc.
@vlt9psi4 жыл бұрын
I've often asked myself this aswell but then I think, ford is a multi million dollar company who im guessing put a lot of r&d into designing the heatshields. Also I like how it hides everything, makes it look neater imo
@chris929rr74 жыл бұрын
Scott van strien yeah I agree I may as well just do it properly and get a high mount manifold when I go a bigger turbo on my BA. High mount barras do look formidable.

Today when i boosted my ba xr6 turbo, it was rattling and when i backed off, i couldn’t accelerate properly. When i boosted again it was fine but the rattle was still there but not as loud as the first time. Have you heard of this before?

Probs best to have a gasket, MLS ones anyways, simply because like you said both surfaces are machined flat but not 100%, regardless metal will deform and i can guarantee they wont be perfectly flat, im a Machinist and theres only a handful of ways to get it 100% flat... Anyways it would still be fine probably. Awesome vid!!

Hi scott . Love your channel by the way . Would it be better to weld the flapper shut and get an external waste gate put into turbo housing or manifold ?
@vlt9psi4 жыл бұрын
yes, it seems to be a lot better form of boost control
@MV605 жыл бұрын
Man those are easy to get off those turbos. What about just some red rtv between the manifold and turbo?
@vlt9psi4 жыл бұрын
not necessary, they only ever seem to be an issue if you actually put a gasket in there.
@MV604 жыл бұрын
@@vlt9psi Yea, seems like it. I always rtv both sides of a gasket when I use a gasket on both hot sides.
