factory piping and xover flow pretty well, we have a ute at work all factory piping just a Jonny Tig cooler and its at 367rwkw. your boost is looking good for no control.

Wow, caught this one early. Another great video Brownie. Can't wait to see it on the 1/4 mile again. I just had to do the inlet manifold gaskets on my BA and thought that might be a good idea for a video at some point if you haven't done yours yet. It's not technically difficult, but it's a bit of a pain to get to all the bolts. The gasket between the head and the manifold is the cause of the very common BA rough idle problem so they pretty much all have to be replaced at some point.
@BrowneysGarage2 жыл бұрын
Legend, thanks mate. It's coming, should be there this Sunday so expect the video in a week or 2 all going well. Not a job I want to do any time soon! Haven't done mine yet and unfortunately may not make such a great video if/when I do, as you said not super technical but just looks time consuming and painful - likely just minutes of me cursing the car out!
@KiwiPokerPlayer2 жыл бұрын
@@BrowneysGarage Awesome, can't wait. If you do end up having to do those gaskets, get a few days worth of penetrating oil into the bolts that hold the two halves of the manifold together. Mine were pretty seized up.

Great video Brownie well explained I found the ball shaped carbide bit extremely helpful for rounding the corners of the waste gate entry just like a short turn radius when porting a head

Handy to know, thanks mate. Should have played around with the different shapes a bit more but not sure some of those would have reached far enough for me to work and see what was going on still! Next time

As an FYI - don’t use long carbide burs with that die grinder. It’s too fast for them & will bend them pretty much instantly (ask me how I know 😂) Use a variable speed electric die grinder or an air one & throttle it.

Inlet manifold is still the best source. I’d get a freely available 1 way valve that will prevent the WG actuator from seeing any vacuum.

Another cause for the boost bleeding off could be the stock exhaust (if the turbo can't push the air out fast enough , it can't make boost in short) 👍

hey browney wanted to find out, what length rod for the actuator did you use?
@BrowneysGarage Жыл бұрын
80mm (bit.ly/3nep7QG) then I cut 10 or 20mm off, can't remember exactly, to get the right length I needed without running out of thread. Couldn't find something to suit at the time but I was in a rush so it may be out there.

@@BrowneysGarage thanks alot browney, do you remember how much preload you used? i know 2mm is said to be the right amount but ive head other things
@BrowneysGarage Жыл бұрын
@daniel veldman Yep, would have been 2mm or at least that’s what I tried for. Controlling boost now to come in at 7psi but comes down a touch to 5 or 6 in the top end - really itching to throw some boost control or ideally a turbo ECU in now!
@danielveldman4690 Жыл бұрын
@@BrowneysGarage i was talking to a pro about this, me mentioned if there is more timing up high (which how most tunes are) you will see a small drop off. so it may not be actual boost contol issue.
@georgehortis61632 жыл бұрын
never to much boost
@rustybogans25086 ай бұрын
I’m really puzzled as to why you’re going to all that trouble with stock parts. Bigger exhaust is a must on a barra not to mention intercooler and injectors. Professional tune will stop the overboost that’s all i did to my FG 10 years ago and it’s still hammering along at 310rwkw with 210 000km on it
