Depends on the year too cause after 1991 Yamaha dropped the hp from 140hp to 120. Back in the 80s the vmax had more power but it was too much for the suspension to handle the pull so it wont turn for shit when I open mine up! I have an 85 max btw!

Just like the V-Max I owned. The bike weaved at 135 mph. I felt like the steering head was going to snap off. It has something to do with frequency resonation harmonics. I've been told that you can drive through it if you were brave enough to increase speed. Not me. Turbines will do the same thing. It's called their critical speed. If the operator stayed at the turbines' critical speed, they can seriously damage the turbine. The operator is to ramp up the turbine speed past the critical speed, and everything will return to smooth operation.
